My definition of a custom tune is one that was specifically created for your truck based on the data gathered from your truck while on the dyno. There are to many variables that can not be seen or predicted from a person sitting behind a computer several thousand miles away; examples are O2 sensors reading improperly due to an exhaust leak or the O2 just being bad or air temp sensor, vacuum leak. Lets say that one was to receive a perfect tune for a certain combination but it has one of the issues above, you now have a truck that will not run properly. My 7 year old understands better

There are variables that can effect the tuning results as in anything. However, if you have ever read a set of the CPW's (custom program work sheets) that go out to EVERY customer that orders Mikes custom tuning, you would see that all possibilities are covered and that he is well aware of your trucks condition prior to starting the tuning.
I find the statement that your 7 year old understands better to be a little offensive in that you have not gathered all the facts before making it.
The man has spent 15 years researching and developing his CUSTOM Tuning abilities and is normally dead on...

If you look at the person I quoted he claimed his 13 year old understood. This is why I made the comment my 7 year old understood (did not mean to offend you). The worksheet is still not a 100% garantee that the tune is perfect for that truck.

If you just more or less pick it off the shelf per say it is a canned tune. The only true custom tune you could ever recieve would be on the dyno. There for any mail order tune you order from troyer or anyone else is a canned tuner until you take it to the dyno and get it tweaked for your truck specifically

i was only joking with silver....but listen call mike maybe he can change your mind(s)
i guess we can hit this ball back and forth all day,but wont help any of us...
maybe start a poll,on how many people datalogged the dyno, and mike had to redo the tunes,it would be interesting...he does suggest it ,to make sure A/F`s are right... etc...

Blah blah blah. Just make your decision. A tuner doesn't make that big of a difference anyway. Some people can't even tell it. And, a V6 mustang will still spank you.

I bought it for $120, as a beta tester. I bought it for 1 reason ONLY. The guages. At the time it was supposed to have a transmission temp PID. As it turns out, it doesn't.

Waste money? That's a little harsh... I guess you could say I was fooled....

Guys:

I believe that the OP here was looking for NUMBERS -- not stupidity and arguments (take note those of you who are VERY off topic -- we notice this crap as moderators).

Numbers:

Almost 260 RWHP with 325 TQ. 93-Octane Performance Tune by Troyer Performance. AF1. Magnaflow SISO.

Thats a nice chart and you A/f #'s look great .......I'd say go with what makes you feel good on the inside. I personally have the EDGE and hope to one day sell it or keep it "gauges" and get troyer tunes b/c i feel my truck is in better hands w/ his custom tunning. Dont get me wrong, I love the EDGE and it adds great performance and the gauges itself are worth the money IMO, but troyer knows these trucks like no one else. They have tested on more F-150's than any other company that I know of. Therefore, their knowledge of our trucks is enough to make me know that my 30K investment will be in good hands Good luck in your hunting and just know that either tuner will wake your truck up and hopefully make you happy in the long run
