On the 5.4 3V trucks, we typically pick up, on our Dynojet 224lxC here, about 25 RWHP on 87 octane - we also did that in a demonstraction down at SCT in fact, and we did that on their Mustang dyno, whcih is notoriusly stingy for power readings, and they were shocked at how much power we made on 87 octane on the 5.4 3V. On premium gas it's even better, especially on the 2007's and then it's anywhere from a low of about 30 to a high of well over 40 RWHP on premium gas. Those are real world numbers on our in-house Dynojet 224 xlC, not inflated nonsense acheived on dynos that are well known in the industry to be "power happy" and thus skew all their numbers.
There isn't any other tuning that makes more safe & sustainable performance gain than what we make - period. Though at the same time, unless requested by the custoemr we do not tune them on teh ragged edge for every last HP that can be made, simply out of concern for long-term reliability, EGT's, etc. And we're not just superior in peak HP, but everywhere - part-throttle torque, all areas under the curve, overall driveability, etc. There simply isn't anyone else who has specialized in performance tuning the F-150 for the 15+ years that we have.
Those canned tuners, like the Edge, Superchips, etc., (which we also sell, and know them very well), do a fine job for what they are designed for - and those who are happy with them, we're happy for you!
However, canned units don't do what we do. They are NOT full PCM image flashes and complete 7 digit specific strategy matched replacement tunes like we do - and what we do, long before you get to any dyno, is indeed CUSTOM tuning. Each tune we do is made for each individual vehicle - period.
And the number of people who come here on our Dyno Days or who send in their data to us who need absolutely NO changes whatsoever is a pretty decent percentage - and can only be appreciated by those who have actually experienced it.
Our results are what comes from the experience of having made upwards of 5000 5.4 3V F-150 tunes alone - and we have specialized in tuning F-150's for 15 years now, with every engine Ford has ever offered, and quite a few with engines Ford *never* offered as well.
The very first person on our last Dyno Day just a few weeks ago was a gentleman with an F-150 who was using an Edge unit on his truck - we tuned him, he took the vehicle out for a 10 minute drive, and came back raving about it, and I quote: "I just THOUGHT the Edge was doing something for my truck!" Those were his exact words, not ours - and we didn't have to change one single thing from our baseline custom tune. Anyone claiming that we are doing "canned' tuning simply does not know what they are talking about - or they have an agenda.
The simple fact is, you cannot get better, more thorough tuning for these vehicles than what we provide. THAT is what you get from us, and is the result of 20 years of EFI tuning, 15 years of that specializing in these F-150's - far more than anyone else in the world, period.
These F-150's are like no other vehicle in the world, they have HUNDREDS of PCM revisions each and every model year, and we are the only ones who do F-150 tuning at the level we do. Maybe that is why the manufacturers of the canned units people brag about here call us asking us for help with THEIR F-series applications - and NONE of them gets what we give our customers.
Now, would we be the best people to come to for a Honda tune? Nope!! Though we could do that at an "ok" level I suppose, we don't do them on any kind of routine basis, and thus simply don't have the thorough knowledge that the world's foremost Honda tuners do - so we would never claim that. Just like if I had a BMW, I would let Steve Dinan tune it.
But for an F-150 - you simply cannot beat the quality of our tuning - ask those who actually *have* our tuning.

I've been out of touch lately on the boards, (just slammed with work and actually haven't been home in over a month). But I read this and it caught my eye.
Does this mean the 07s are performingly worse in stock trim when compared to the 04-06? Or are the 07 motors performing the same in stock trim as the 04-06 motors, but just responding better to tuning then the 04-06 motors are?
Just incredibly curious is all.
Thanks,
Duke

I wasn't there when you said that... but, I was there later. And you couldn't stop talking about the difference. LOL! You even came in the shop to tell us that you were leaving and that we should listen for you at the bottom on the hill pulling out on to the two-lane.
Needless to say, it seemed like you were VERY happy with the TP work over the Edge!

Hi Everyone,
First, for Duke - no, the 2007's do not perform, worse in stock trim compared to teh 2004 & 2006's, they are makign their rated power for teh msot part, like 5.4 3V's generally tend to do mroe often than not. There are some changes Ford did in the 2007y F-150 that meant we needed to do a couple of thigns differently, but then we always have that each model year.
For 05RedFX4 - I never can recognize your screen name for who you are, I always associtte it with a 2005 instead of your new 2007 model you have now - I can't say that was the exact *emphasis* you placed the way I wrote it, but when I heard you when you came back, I did write down the words as I wanted to remember the quote, it was jsut so funny how you put it - even though it's something we often hear comments along the lines of, it was just so funny the way you put it that I had to write it down, so it's still on my dyno notebook. We all enjoyed it, especially the part about you telling everyone to listen for you when you left, I think a few of us had a good laugh about that one.
All kidding aside, thanks for coming to our Dyno Day, we enjoyed having you here and we were looking forward to showign yet another owner the differnece between what we do to these vehicles versus what canned tunes do.
