Has anyone had there truck broken into and there tuner stolen? When it is shut off it looks like it could be a GPS screen. Just thinking, my trucks have been broken into twice to steal radar detectors and if they take your tuner they also have your stock tune and no way to return truck to stock.

 

Out of curiosity what tunner are you running and why couldn't you just disconnect it and stash it under the seat or in the glovebox or something?

 

Crooks never look there.

 

Several years ago the drivers window on my truck was smashed and my radar detector stolen. I believe the crook was in the parking lot and saw me put the radar detector under the seat. That is all he took. It was Christmas time and earlier in the night I had bought my wife some jewerly and put it BEHIND the seat before this stop. He never looked there. Good luck for me I can fix the truck but you need to keep the wife happy.

I guess what I meant involved too much thought process lol.

If the truck is parked and the crook looks through the window and sees nothing worth taking, then they probably wouldn't even break in to check under the seats or in the glove box.

Now if the same crook walks by and sees a tuner sitting on the seat or out in plain view then he would probably go ahead and break in and take it.

While we would like to think most crooks are dumb, the reality of it is most of them are pretty smart on a common sense level. If you park your truck lets say at a mall and it gets broken into. It is because of one of three reasons
a.) The thief SAW you hiding something, or heard you driving in the parking lot with the stereo up.
b.) There was something left in plain sight for him/her to see that seemed worth taking to them
c.) The theif knows who you are and/or what you possibly have inside the vehicle.(see reason a, might have recognized your truck from a previous run in)

No theif will just randomly break into a vehicle thinking they will find something because it is not worth the risk for them if they come up empty.
