the only adjustments i made are i now brought the 1-2 wot shift down to 4800. That seemed to take care of it still don't shift untill 5500 or so. As far as the odd sound i believe you were right about the drone. How much more would a custom tune from this Bill give me i'm very interested ? thanks a bunch

You would need to contact Bill about that. My 1-2 shifts are 5300 2-3 are 5200 and 3-4 are i think 4800 or 4900. As long as your WOT shift is 300rpm more that your highest shift you should not be hitting the rev limiter. The drone is most definatly the Air Raid CAI. I have heard that sometimes the Edge doesnt play nicely with CAI's. Some people dont have problems. Bills website is www.powerhungryperformance.com They are closed today as far as calling but you can always email.

I have not installed the cai intake yet so i'm sure it will only get worse

Sorry for the long reply, yes I'm still happy with my custom edge settings. I'm currently running a little different setup but don't remember the exact changes I know I bumped up the timing because I was running around at a lot higher elevation for a few weeks but other than that everything is pretty much the same and I've had no problems whatsoever.

Still waiting to see a before/after MPG on some of these tunes. Preferably calculated by hand (fill the tank, divide by miles) since the trip computers are seldom as accurate. Anyone have some data on this? Before MPG, After MPG, Full Tune Para.

Screw-Me-05 from what I read on here your rev limiter needs to be 300 above the highest shift points. you might try droping your shift points from 5200 to 5100 or even 5075 which I believe some one was running. also what fuel are you running. if you are running 87 oct. then the +1 timing would not be a good thing at your ellevation. try those changes I bet it helps.

are you running level 2 or 3. if you are running level 2 I would think timing +2 or 3 would be better for 93 oct. if you are running level 3 I would think timing +1 or 1.5 would be good.

here's my tune

W.O.T. 5100,5100,4900
shift firmness 1to2 +20 2to3 +12 3to4 +8
conveter lock 1 +1, 2 +1, 3 +1, 4 +1
speed limiter 169
axle 3.73
timming + 2.0
W.O.T. fuel 1.80

works good for me, got to get some custom tunes from bill so i can hook my volant back up though then it will run even better.

Right now i got a custom stock intake with a ram air tube, made it out of a 3" pvc cleanout tee , 12" piece of 3" pvc out to the fender, an out the cleanout part of the tee 3" drain tile screwed in, with the other end going down to the front valance , with an old k&n intake tube that came off a chevy, cut down into a scoop an attached to the tile, all painted black. it works pretty good no black residue on the bottom of the tail pipes.

New F150 Owner and Edge Evo Owner

Ok this is my first post, I'm new member here. My usual forums were on broncozone.com (I'm also a Bronco owner). Anyway, I have the 5.4L v8 and I am kind of afraid to mess with the settings on the Evo programmer. Can someone list some safe numbers to stay within while making a custom tune? Also, is it safe to use 87 octane on level 3?

I don't know exactly what is considered safe, because all vehicles run differently. All I can offer is my opinion, so adjust accordingly.

I think that your best bet is to read all that you can find on the subject. (email Edge's Support, Manuals, forums, etc...) The first place I'd check would be EDGE's support. They probably will be unwilling to give you many specifics beyond the manual due to liability, but it is worth a try.

I would read the manual and start tweaking the settings that it specifies. (timing by elevation & octane, tire size, etc..) Then I would look to some of the other members here with the same year vehicle, engine, mods, and go from there. Or pay for a custom tune.

I wouldn’t recommend running 87 octane on level 3 unless your elevation is way up there. I think you should email EDGE for more information on that.

Here are my custom settings. Adjust yours as you prefer.

Note: I run 89 octane at an average of 2500 - 2600 feet elevation and tow a fair amount. I've been running this for about three months now & with no problems...

Program Level 2
WOT Fuel +1.5
Timing +.5
Rev Limiter 5400
Speed Limiter 110 mph
Shift Firmness -1 for all. (My belts squeal with anything +2 or higher with heavy acceleration & I still get a very firm shift with -1)
Tire Size 2445 (265 70 R17) I measured and found the Manual was wrong.

My Level 3 program is mostly the same, except shift firmness & I am running 93 octane. With level 3 and most of those settings I am able to run a 7.0 second (0-60 MPH) Nice!

To each his own, so good luck.
