I have 70 mile round trip daily commute so I just can't seem to pull the trigger on the level 3 tune because of the price difference in gas.

So I'm at level 2 with these settings:
WOT Shift 1-2 = 5200, 2-3 = 5200, 3-4 4700
Firmness 1-2=+8, 2-3=+8, 3-4=+5
Rev limit 5400
Speed 110
Gears 3.55
Tires 2445
WOT 1.6

This is so much better than the factory tune that it's almost like a different truck! I may up the firmness on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts but so far I'm pretty happy with it.

So I tried some custom tuning on LVL 2 and it runs good except that I keep hitting the rev limiter. I suspect that the shift firmness is too low because it goes past 5250 and hits the rev limiter at 5400.

Should I increase the shift firmness? What is the factory redline on these trucks? Thats the one that worries me, playing with customs settings is ok, but I dont want to wind it up too high.

Thanks

Edge Evolution running level 2 and settings:
Shift Firmness: 1-2: +7, 2-3: +7, 3-4: +5
Timing: 0, running 87 octane
WOT Shifting: 1-2: 5250, 2-3: 5250, 3-4: 4600
Rev Limiter: 5400
WOT Fuel: 1.52

I just got my Edge earlier this week and so far have been liking it alot. I am running level 2 cause I can't afford running high octane fuel right now. Only thing I am trying to figure out though is that when I loaded the normal level 2 tune the Speedometer and my MPH on the edge were exactly matched. When I went to make a custom tune the Edge defaulted to a smaller tire size and gear than my truck has. I have 265/70/17 and 3.55's...I am pretty sure and I entered the size it says from the book and 3.55 and now it seems like its off by 1-2 MPH. It seems that the Edge is 1-2 MPH slower than what the Speedometer says. Has anyone else experienced this or should I just load another tune and not bother changing the default even though they are not correct?

i always need to keep my rev limiter 300 rpm higher then my wot shift or it does that. set your rev limiter to 5550 or change you wot shifts to 5100

I seem to recall from another thread a poster who said that the Speedometer was 1-2% or 1-2 MPH over reading by design as it comes from the factory. (That's why the speed limiter is set at 98 MPH stock but the Speedometer reads 100 MPH)

At least that's what I thought they said.

Trust the Edge over the Speedometer. Digital is better than an analog gauge anyway.

I have heard that as well and correct me if I am wrong, but I thought the Edge was suppose to correct the speedometer based on the numbers you enter? or does that just mean that entering those numbers makes the edge read out correct and the speedometer is just always gonna be fast?

I think (from reading here - I have no personal experience) that the Edge will correct major changes due to tire and rim mods, but that the speedometer is hardwired with that bit of bias to the high side.

It could be that the canned tune you loaded had a 'fudge' on the tire size entry to make it all line up, but when you put in the true sizes the 2% bias showed back up.

Try this - Calculate a tire and rim combination with 98% of your actual tires circumference. enter that on your custom tune and see if it lines up now. (in other words lie to the computer, so when the computer lies to the speedometer its actually telling the truth.

If this works (and if you try it), please report back and let us know. Also watch your MPG and your Odometer. This fudge may impact those as well.

Hi everyone quick question about the edge. I have a 04 f150 larait with the 5.4 . My question is this has anyone else had a issue with custom programing when I tried to do some custom tuning The truck kinda went nuts . I had to return it to stock then i could go back to level 3 It was wikd truck would not pull over 3/4 throttle . and had VERY lil power.

Is this something that you have to do on the edge return it to stock before you can back and reprogram ?

Any help or insights would be appreciated

I have done some custom tuning. I return the Edge to Stock, then select Level 2 and cutom tuning and enter my data, no problems doing it this way.
Probably done it a dozen times so far.
