Not getting an oil temp reading from my Edge. Seems from what I've read that the problem may be that the 4.6 does not have a sensor. Anyone with a 4.6 getting a EOT (engine oil temp)?

 

I actually just found this out last night myself. I was towing a pretty good load so I set up the display for Transmission Temp and Engine Oil Temp and, just like you, got a "0" for the reading at EOT. My guess was the same as yours with the no sensor. Maybe somebody will be able to clarify/confirm this idea though

It seems there is no oil temperature sensor in the 4.6, so you won't get a reading from this particular PID.

Interestingly, 05RedFX4 says he has a 2007 with the 5.4L, but he doesn't have an EOT reading either.

 

Engine oil temp is NOT a monitored item in the PCM.

 

Thanks for the responses... Just so you know though. I started by calling Edge and they told me it should be working, I had a bad sensor.

I have the same issue on my new 07. The EOT worked fine on my 06, they both have the 5.4L.
