Edge OBD II compatibility ?

Can I pull codes with the edge for another vehicle besides my f150 5.4?

HI BtownFord,

Yes, you usually can.

Now just as an aside (and forgive me for playing sales-dude here a second), this is just in case you may not have yet purchased the Edge unit - first, we carry them as well here at Troyer Performance, so we can supply them to you.

However, if you want a tuner that will not only give you much better performance results, but also be able to pull far more additional codes and be a far better datalogger, you could go with our custom tuning in the XCalibrator 2 and get a backlit screen and many more features in addition to those I listed, and our custom tuning, for less than what the Edge unit costs for the 2004 & up F-150's. I don't' know if you are aware of that or not, but I thought I would just point that out.

Again, we carry both, so we can supply you with either unit - and either unit can be used to retrieve & clear codes on other vehicles, so this is just some basic FYI in case you may not be aware, that's all.

Best of luck with whatever you decide!

When you use an edge to pull codes from other trucks do you have to return yours to stock or can i just unplug it and then plug it to the new truck and have at it?

Thanks for the input, but I already have purchased the edge. It came as a Christmas present to me and I have a 2000 model that I recently required that I use as my daily driver and vehicle that I can work on in my own home.

Thanks for your response!

It wont work unless the Edge can read the HEX, meaning it will work on other's 04-07 F-150 but probably nothing else. It didn't work on my buddy's late model VW when I tried it, instead it just sat there grinding away looking to match the HEXs in the tuner to the vehicle and wouldn't let us past that screen to do anything.

No, you usually cannot. Other ODB II ports will power up the EDGE, but are not compatible even as a code reader.
