Edge Gas Mileage Sucks! Bill????

Ok I have had the edge for a few months now and I have been averaging less than 14.5mpg the hole time. Not so great. The last fill up I calculated it to be 13.3mpg. This is horrible and the edge calculation is way way off. It said 15.2mpg for the average and when I calculated I get the 13.3mpg. I am running level 2 87 octane, shift points set at I think 5200 1-2, 5200 2-3, and 4900 3-4. Spark +.5 and Trans Pressure +4 1-2, +4 2-3 and +2 3-4. Any ideas? I thought I would get better? Truck has 14,000 miles. We are running winter grade fuel with "up to" 10% Ethanol. At this time last year with no edge and the same driving style and area I was getting 15-15.5mpg. I was hoping into the 16's. This is a combination of city and interstate driving.

Overall, fuel quality is going down, and this year there are far more fuels with ethanol content than there were just last year - and that is the primary reason why people comparing last year's mileage at this time to this year are seeing worse mileage.

Now that is not to answer for what is in the tune, but I would suggest that you remove the tuning and drive it for a month or so on the stock tuning and see what mileage you get using the exact same fuels - *then* you'll have some current relevant data with which to make your comparison, so it's relevant to this year's fuels.

Good luck!

I might do that. I just would hate to go back to stock as without a tuner the F150's run like a dog with two legs.

x2 I have a winter beater 4 cylinder and thats getting crap mileage. Im getting about 200 miles per tank on my f150 and paying $3.30 for regular 87. I love paying top dollar for crap fuel.

A lot is based on how you drive. Keep your foot out of it. I know it is nice having the extra power, but that does not mean you have to use it all the time. I get just over 1.5mpg better than stock on my Level 2 tune. But, I can also drive like a maniac and drop my mileage by 4-5mpg.

bad mpg

I got my edge evo for xmas. the first week I was getting about 14 or 15mpg. I had a problem with my battery this weekend so I reflashed it and now I'm only getting around 12mpg. I don't drive like a complete anus, I get on it once in awhile but nothing obscene...what gives?! MPG is suppose to improve?!

what I meant was that I was worried that my battery problem may have messed up the program so I just did it over again, using all the same specs that I originally did and now my mpg has gone down by 2-3 mpg.

What Level are you running, and do you have any custom settings?

I'm only on level two. My only custom settings were for shift firmness and WOT fuel. I wouldn't think that those settings would drop my mpg that much unless I was flooring at from every stop light and stop sign and doing 90 on the highway.

It's just rather odd that it was running fine at 14-15mpg and now only at 12-13.
