VMP tuning

How long did it take you guys to get your tunes from VMP? Did anyone have a "canned" tuner (edge or superchips) to compare them to? How did they compare? How was the customer satisfaction?

Thanks Guys

whiteweazle went from edge to xcal2 from bama(jusnesmodified.com) then had custom tunes put on that from vmp, and he loves them and highly recommends them

The reason i am curious is i found on there web site they do a buy back program and i have a predator tuner, the old xcal1 and an xcal2. If i sell them the xcal1 and either the 2 or the predator i would have enough credit for costom tunes for my pi swap and have some credit left over.

I know that i have heard a lot about them. They are by far the #2 programer on this site. I was just curious to see how they stack up.

Justin at VMP is top of the line when it comes to tuning the Ford PCM. You can't go wrong. He used to work for Superchips here in Florida.

For me troyer's tunes have worked amazing. The A/Fs are perfect, and the shifting is dead on. the amount of R&D the guy does on our engines is unmatched by anyone in the business. Yes it is a longer wait, but his 15 years experience is unmatched, and he really knows how to tune our trucks. VMP asks 10 questions online, troyer has you fill out 4 sheets of questions. his tunes are THAT good, yes.

If you want it "dead nuts on" you need to get it dyno tuned. Justin has great customer satisfaction also. If VMP made you send in 6 sheets would that be the benchmark of good?

i'd say the benchmark of good is the number of years specializing and dealing with f150's and the number of customers and why you have so many repeat customers...

The original post asked about VMP. Not about Troyer or his 10+ week wait for "custom tune".

being able to get it dead nuts on is the ability to give them feedback. not every tuner no matter how many years of experience is going to be able to get every tune dead nuts on no matter how good they are. that is why they ask for feedback. they need certain logging and the data to be able to adjust it. they will both tell you this. once you have given them the feedback they can adjust the tune to where it will be dead on or very close. the tunes that you recieve will be close but will also be safe.and usually the difference from spot on and safe isnt going to be greatly noticeable unless it was far off. and for the record i have good logs from the very first tunes from vmp that show they are right.
