Programmers and tuners

I have a 2004 screw 4x4 with a FIPK Gen II CAI, throttle body spacer, flowmasters, and a 3inch leveling kit. I am interested in gaining some hp and gas mileage. Maybe regain a little what the leveling kit took. What exactly are the best tuners and programmers out there inlcuding price? What is the difference between them? I have heard that the edge doesn't work well with aftermarket intakes. True? Do used products work the same as new ones? Hope someone can help!

For pricing you will need to contact the vendors. I went with Troyer Performance tunes using the Xcal 2.You will probably want an Xcal 2 or Xcal 3 but if you have a need for more guages then livewire.Using the Edge with an intake usually will cause a lean condition so custom tunes will be the way to go.* You will hear many times on here to get rid of the throttle body spacer as well.SEARCH as there are many similar questions that have already been answered. Bottom line:* Custom tunes= Happy

Hope you did not pay for that throttle body spacer? I got one free with my CAI, never even put it on. Makes a good paper weight though..
How much gas mileage did you lose with your leveling kit?? I watch my mileage like a hawk and I noticed NO change with my 2.5 lift?
Anyway if you like the dash pod go with the edge. If you don't care for the pod then the xcal models might be the way to go. Either way custom tunes are a must!

i lost about 1mpg with the kit. i noticed it on the highway. got that about the same time as the flows too. Could be a combo. Haven't heared much about the TBS, how bad are they? A buddy said he liked his and that is the main reason i got one.

I have heard that the 150's are lean from the factory and any aftermarket intake just increases it. From my understanding, Custom Tunes eliminate that issue. So, it is up to you.... If you go with Edge, you'll want to get a custom tune. If you go with an X-Cal 2/3 I can only recomend Justin, at VMP TUNING. He's got great turn around time, and the best prices I could find. Check the classifieds on here as I found my Xcal2 for 140.00, and VMP offers custom tunes for $50.00 each or 3 for 125.00.

You can also look into Troyer Performance, I have no exp. with them but a ton of other forum members have loved his tuning abilities as well.

Good Luck
Tom

I've installed a few TBS and ran one until recently(to small for new TB), but everyone has their own say, I can honestly say that on the 3 I installed the trucks all picked up .10 in the 1/8 mile, now thats not alot, but they held that ever since. They work in a since that they increase plenum volume, but they don't gain anything because of the "swirl" they create.

Welcome to the forum bmw0311bmw

I recommend an XCal (2 or 3) with custom tunes built specifically for your truck
