I didn't know that but since it's hand held I'm guessing it doesn't have gauges, right? The only real downside is that if you ever wanted to switch tuners or get a dyno tune, I only know one guy who will be able to tune that.

Here's the description, but yes, Bill is the only one, but you are a strong customer for Justin, not a bad thing at all, but I see you as only wanting one tuner, so what would the difference be?
Stores up to 5 different custom tuned calibrations

Displays and clears Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)

Monitors up to 5 Engine Parameters (PIDs)

Calculates 0 - 60 and 1/4 mile performance tests

Install in less than 10 minutes, with no tools required

Tire Size and Gear Ratio adjustment (on most gas vehicles)

Gains of up to 35 HP and 50 Ft./Lbs on gasoline applications

The difference would be that you wouldn't have the option of having someone else tune the unit as well as dyno tuning isn't available. If I moved out of the state and had a heavily modified vehicle, I'd take it to a local shop to get it dialed in probably.

I'm not bashing either, I'm just pointing out the obvious.

this may be a stupid question and i apologize ahead of time. I was looking at the PHP website and it doesnt say anything about the Gryphon being able to change the shift points and firmness like the X-Cal... am I just missing it?

It looks like from PHP's website he has software available to let other tuners custom tune the gryphon's. Hopefully tuners will jump on that and start learning the interface.

I understand, but many of Bill's customers will never see him or get live tuned. I agree comp. though, I want a tuner in my area, and will have one once the truck is finished. But yes the Edge has the ability to change firmness and points, and more.

It's not on the website. But you can change both of them. (And many other parameters - timing, gear ratio, tire size, idle speed, WOT fuel, etc. etc.).

Justin is right, it's not possible.

I meant that I used it on my 2006 F150, sold it and bought the Mustang which I'm currently using the Xcal2 on. Sorry about the confusion.

Just to correct a possible misconception here..

Troyer doesn't charge "$50 per tune" on top of the price of Xcal 2 or 3 or Livewire device, at least not for the original 3 custom tunes that you order.

Additional tunes beyond those may well be $50 each, I don't know.

The price that TP charges for the programmer includes 3 custom tunes at no additional charge.

No knock against any sponsors here or anyones favorite tuner, just wanted to make that specific issue a bit more clear.

Good, clear, well-written post, Tex. It's great to have useful information instead of just, "My guy's best"!.

And, I love the last line in your sig. Wish I could think up something clever like that.
