Canned Tunes Vs Emailed Custom Tunes

Guys,

Is a custom mail order tune from Troyer or VMP much better than the canned tunes on the SCT Xcal3?

Canned tunes= Difference
Custom Tunes= Big difference

Plus they are only like $20 more than canned tunes. Well worth the money. Definitely the best mod I've done for my truck so far. Small improvement in mileage, but big difference in power and driveability.

I can only speak for my tunes from VMP,yes def worth every penny for sure.

From all I have heard about Justin at VMP, it sounds like he is the man when it comes to tuning our rigs.

I go in there and tweak a lot more things than the basic sct canned tune.

the only down side is the wait to get the tune... I put my order in on July 7th, almost 2 months ago, seems like forever.

VMP only takes ~10 days so there is a minimal wait.

If someones goal was economy, I wonder is there is a graph for displaying wait times and how much money you could of saved if you got your tunes sooner compared to other companies.

That's true. I bet a lot of people don't even think about that aspect of it.

Here's a hypothetical situation.

Assume:
  1. 15 MPG pre tune, and 16 MPG post tune
  2. 200 miles per week
  3. $3.70 per gallon
  4. You can keep your foot out of the floor board after you get your custom tune

You would save $24.67 over the course of 8 weeks.

Again, these are all variables, but I would consider $25 to be a decent ballpark number.
