Would getting a 91 mileage tune be jusitifiable??

Since gas prices are falling like crazy (), would it even be worth while to spend the $50 to get a 93 Mileage tune from VMP?? and then when gas goes back up, switch back to my 87 Mileage?

why are you comparing 87 octane to 91? the 91mileage should yield better mileage and you should just run the 91 all the time...

you should have a 91 mileage and a 91 drag race tune

With custom tuning, more power is made with higher octane gasoline. Ask yourself this: did you spend all that money on custom tuning for less power?

Well a 91 drag tune would quite make sense with a N/A 4.2L....

Well I was more concerned about mileage than power, as I make a 600 mile round trip home about every month or so.

But I think after the end of the month, I will bite the bullet and $50 to get a 93 tune from Justin. About how much would I increase Hwy MPG driving conservatively? Just a guestimate....

Thansk guys!

I was wondering the same thing, but in a more 'cost efficient' mindset.
Basically, how much does it cost per mile between 87 octane with a mileage tune and 91 octane with a mileage tune. Right now I have an 87 mileage tune, if it costs the same amount or less to run a 91 mileage tune then I would be all over it.

see that's the thing...I would have to run the 93 Mileage tune to be able to compare it to the 87 tune....When it comes to power, no doubt the 93 provides more per $$....I might wait until next month to make the purchase. I am going home the 31st, 320 mies one way, so I will get a true test of my 87 Mileage. Gonna drive 65-70 the whole entire way, and once I hit the flatlands(home) I should see a big improvement....I will post ack here when I calculate it out....

Wouldn't mind the extra power though

Where can you get 91 around here. All I ever see is 93. I have an 87 and a 93 tune.

AZ only has 87, 89, and 91. We don't have 93.

Tried 93 with my Troyer tune, and the gas mileage sucked. Boo!

I may give it another shot though, and see what happens. I may even eventually try a VMP tune. When I bought my tunes, everyone was humping Troyers leg (except Thumper). Then everyone went to VMP due to the long Troyer wait...VMP's waiting times have gone way up in the past year.

I always run 93. It's only a couple of dollars more a fillup, and it sure makes a big difference in the way my truck runs.

I've driven on both Troyers and VMP's 93 mileage tune and I hate them both next to their perf tunes. Even if it gets better mileage, which I never left it on long enough to see, I can't stand the driveability of it. You have to push the gas a lot more to get it going and with Troyers the WOT was a hell of lot less power than his 93 perf.

I just leave mine in perf now because I want all the power I can get all the time. I need passing power!

Not to mention, say the mileage tune saved me .5mpg on a road trip. That's around 14 miles extra filling 28 gallons back in the tank. So I just saved myself around $3. For driving on a full tank I'd rather drive on a tune I like and have power when I want it than save $3.
