Tuner and 4-wheel drve

All a tuner does is reprogram the parameters of the engine and transmission functions, timing, fuel and air ratio, shift points, downshift points, valve pressure, etc. So, don't see how it could affect the four wheel drive as that is beyound the engine and tranny. Would be no different from and older vehicle where you might have put on a bigger carb, a cam and a tune up.

Just from my personal experience. My truck with Troyer Tuning is stupid powerful in 4-Lo. VERY touchy throttle, instant torque. Be careful, it might surprise you at first.
If you are on icy roads just use 4hi. 4Lo has more of a tendency to spin the tires. The gearing in 4Lo if different, so the shift strategies are different.

That's why I was careful to say I'd used 4HI. Are you saying that the tune might cause the shift strategy to be something less than optimum in 4LO, or are you saying the tune could possibly cause damage in this range? Is it something we should be worried about? I often take our truck into back/high mountain roads and I need the 4wd capability, especially after heavy rains.

I also like to drop into 4HI anytime I'm on a narrow, dirt, steep dropoff mountain road for the improved traction. Seems to give me better control overall. (Not that I'm "racing" under those conditions).
