Edge in the cold

Edge in the cold
I have an Edge Evo and I noticed in the cold (-20C today without wind) that it will turn on and not go to the monitoring screen and when I turn my truck off, it stays lit. I'm assuming it's using some juice when lit so I unplug it and plug it back in, or I'll do that while driving to get my gauges back. Is it ok to keep unplugging and plugging back the Edge?

Royal pain.
Thanks Jack. I know my battery probably isn't working as great as it could be because of the temperature but it will work even worse (not at all) if I forget to unplug the Edge after I park because it didn't turn off on it's own.
I'll just keep doing what I've been doing until spring I guess.

What year is the truck, or more importantly how old is the battery?
I just had to replace the battery in our Expedition because of similar problems. One thing to keep in mind is that in "sleep" mode, the Evo draws relatively little current (~50 mA). However, if the unit resets and the LCD lights back up, it draws about 660 mA which is a LOT!
Keep the battery in mind. In most cases, replacing the battery resolves those issues.
Take care.

Truck is an '05 and I think the battery is from 06? Maybe 07. I thought it was the cold because it worked fine up until the cold snap hit. My guess is it's indirectly related to the cold. The cold causes the battery to not work properly which causes the Edge to do what it's doing.
