High Mileage?

I doubt the mileage is a factor at all. I DO know the older truck's bring a few limitations with them when they are coupled with programmers. I can't speak at all for the XCal programmer, which is offered by VMP and Troyer Performance, but I DO know that www.PHPTune.com offers a Gryphon programmer that would work on your truck. You should really call any of these guys and find out what they really can do for you and if there are any things you should be concerned about.
I think a real consideration is: how long to you plan to hang on to your truck? Is this an upgrade that you're going to use for several years or is there a new truck in your future?

Well, I tell my wife that we will have this truck even when it is a flower pot in the front lawn. LMFAO! So, even if I do get another truck, this one will not be a trade in. We just bought a 08 Expy in March.
When I get back to the states and somewhat settled, I plan on doing the lightning swap. So basically, an all out restoration of the drive train, and a face lift. (next 3-5 years)
I have sent PHP and Troyer an email. Troyer sent me a few links, and, out of them I like the SCT6600 for my 98, and, they said that the CORTEX is my only option for my EXPY. I am still waiting on a reply from PHP. I am very interested in the Gryphon...

I think that you should make a couple of phone calls. Call Power Hungry Performance, VMP Tuning, and Troyer Performance. Listen to the tuners and what they have to say about your truck. Nobody better to get real advice from. Whatever I tell you, or someone else on the forum tells you, is worth as much as the advice from the people who are actually doing the tuning.

I purchased an SCT Xcal3 because it was compatible with the newer F150s (04-08). When you do your research, you may want to make sure you can use the tuner on a newer truck...to get the most out of your investment. When my rig gives up the ghost - my tuner will be used on a newer 08 model (with a different tune of course).
