Check them out at 5 star tuning.com got a great deal on sct livewire with custom tunes just before xmas.Best customer service ive had in years on any products.Phone calls answered every time, e-mails returned within hours.I went from a stock 08 5.4 to custom tunes so the improvement is huge dont know how my tunes stack up though.

I browsed through their site and their tunes cost more than PHP's and VMP. Plus at least at VMP you can get an X3 with 3 tunes for 399.

The tuner is a guy named Mike Butler. Does anyone have any experience with his tuning?

Don't count out Mike at Troyer Performance, great tunes! (www.troyerperformance)

He doesn't come around here much anymore, people kept complaining it took too long to get tunes. This was mainly due to the high volume of orders placed there. Seems some of the other tuners that do frequent the forums are running into those issues now too.

No, it's not, but I would be concerned that the tune writer really knows his stuff with these trucks. They are very complicated and VMP, Troyer, and PHP has a ton of experience with them. Of course, even they had to start in the beginning, so 5star may be just as good. Personally, I would not risk it.

Oh yeah. With success and popularity comes increased wait times. But, you get what you pay/wait for. (In most cases)

Ya 445 it was a xmas promo back in dec. for that price i had to jump on it.As for tunes i went from a stock 08 to custum tunes and the differents is incredible.5 star didnt start doing this last night hes been doing this a long time and im very impressed with how my truck works now.Im shur there are alot of great tuners out there that we will never hear about just because they dont have a fancy web site and spend thousands in advertising doesnt mean they suck.Go to your local track and ask some of the serius drag racers whos tunes there using. The answer will not be email tunes from anyone.I will be putting mine on the dyno this summer to make shur mikes tunes are spot on.Then im going to new england dragway to make a few passes.I will post dyno sheets and time slips.

I don't think I'd want a drag race tuner for a daily driver.

With Troyer, once you get the tunes, you put the truck on a dyno, and record some 15+ different parameters, send that data back to Troyer, and he tweaks your tune as necessary. All that is included in the price, and it was less than $445 IIRC.

Here's my dyno graph after receiving a revised tune.

PS: shur = sure
