Just got off the phone with Edge...
i am somewhat lookin into gettin a programmer in the near future for my 2000 5.4. its got intake, and exhaust right now, so i decided to actually call Edge themselves and spoke to one of their reps. he told me that with the "canned" tunes that they come with i will see/feel a difference in power and a little in gas mileage. i was mainly concerned to hear what they would say about using an Edge with intake/exhaust and he said there would be no problem. i know everyone on here is going to say custom tuning from php, vmp, troyer etc etc, but i am just looking into getting the basic Edge and everything, and would like to know peoples opinion on here to what they told me on the phone. few people around me have Edge on their trucks with intake exhaust and other mods, so that is why i am interested, also i switch tire sizes between winter and summer so would like that you can fix that with the Edge and other modules. thanks for your time

It is a good programmer however the reason why people seem to not like it is because it gets compared to the Gryphon. Which most would argue why get an edge when with a gryphon you get the same thing+some. A gryphon would probably net more gains for you as well since you have an aftermarket intake and exhaust set up. I dont think it is a big price difference if any between an edge and Gryphon as well.

The canned tunes in an Edge have a history of not playing nice with a CAI. Specifically, they have cause a lean running condition, which can, over time, damage your engine. This may not be an issue in your model year truck, but I'd talk to Bill Cohron at www.PHPTune.com before you buy an Edge to see what he thinks.
Since you don't tow, you'd like to replace the "tow" tune in the Edge with a custom tune that gives you what YOU want. You want power and better gas mileage. Bill can write a tune for you that works to achieve this goal - but only on a Gryphon! With an Edge, you'll have a tune that firms up your shifts (and does nothing else), a second tune that was written for someone pulling a 5000+# trailer, and a third tune for someone who is looking for performance and uses 91+ octane gas. If this is what you want, get an Edge. Otherwise, for about the same money, look into a Gryphon!
