Happy with edge evo?
Will I be happy with an evolution even though I dont have ANY performance mods. I read the dyno sheets and almost seems to good to be true. Im finding brand new ones for $350 and used for less. I'm not saying I wont EVER get an exhaust or intake but can I expect the ~25 hp the website claims or what???
Thanks ahead

Just wanted to make you aware that Authorized Edge Dealers should not be selling the Evo for less than $399, so if anyone is, just be wary. (We verified this information less than two weeks ago.)
As far as the hp gains are concerned, you can bet your booty that they're for real -- my husband did the dyno testing when he worked at Edge. You can check out dyno plots from the 2009 F-150 right here. He was just at Edge for 10 days datalogging and dyno tuning.
If you're looking at a used Evo, please check this out first, as it might possibly save you a costly unlock fee.

I bought a used EVO off a guy on another forum about a year ago after adding a CAI and cat back duals. I love it. Once I went to the Level 3-performance settings it really woke up my sleepy 5.4 and made the truck much more fun to drive. It was well worth the investment.
That said I am now considering the upgrade to the Gryphon and buying some custom tunes, but I'd say go for it. I've been very happy with mine.

Looking back I wish I had gotten custom tunes off the bat, but I've been more than happy with my Edge. Like others have said it really wakes the truck up and makes it a ton more fun to drive. I drive mine on level 3 nonstop. I've put it back to stock for a tank of gas and it was terrible. Never leaving 3 again. Not to mention with the increased power, your gas mileage should improve on the towing level (2)....granted you can keep your foot off the pedal.

Bought mine used from a site member for 200.00. Put it in, set it to level 3 about a year ago and other than updates, haven't taken it out or off level 3 since. In my opinion, it's probably the single most street friendly power and driveability improvement that can be made to these vehicles for the money.

Get one! They are very nice, I just got one a couple of weeks ago and like it. The only thing I wish I would have done is spent the extra money and got a new Gryphon from PHP. Then I would be able to customize it later without having to send it in to be converted first. So my suggestion would be to just get one from the start!

We'll i hope to definatly purchase a Gryphon in the near future.. From all the reviews im wondering why i haven't done it sooner.. My trucks an 04 Lariat 5.4. Only modifications i've done to it is add an Airaid Jr Intake Kit, Magnaflow cat-back dual exhaust and i replaced my factory 18" wheels with factory 20"wheels w/oem pirelli's.. Is my truck considered stock or should i also invest in some custom tunes?.. And what type of tunes would you recommend.. I know i can call them but im not ready yet and i know there prob real busy so i thought id try here for opinions then ill call when im ready to purchase.
Thanks everyone..

Well I dont plan on taking my truck too far past stock performance wise. Maybe add an exhaust later on but I just got my truck in June and Ive already put 18k on it. SO that being said, would stepping up to the Gryphon do anything for me other then being able to custom tune later on??

My truck is basically stock. I have dual exhaust and a K&N dropin. Those really don't do anything for performance, so it's stock. With the Gryphon custom tunes, you get a little more horsepower and you get far better shifting and downshifting. I now run my 87 Performance tune and it as strong as the Edge Level 3 with 93 octane. The downshifting is the biggest improvement. I can hit it at 65 or 70 and still have a passing gear, with the custom tunes. Plus, there was a speed around 35 to 40 that when I would nail it to pass on Level 3, it never downshifted. It kicks down and goes with Bill's custom tune.

I just got done installing the Evo in my 06 STX 4.6. I can say that for the money spent, it was well worth it. It does great things to the shifting quailty and shift points. Power has definately increased as well. The ability to monitor things in numbers is worth the money spent if nothing else. I did find that it's definately designed for the everyday driver, so, in the level 2 mode, I upped the shift firmness to +25 on the 1-2 and 2-3 upshifts. On the 3-4 upshift, I ran it at +6. Engine timing is bumped +5. No doubt it works, and I doubt that many would say it just wasn't worth the money. If you're looking for tire boiling, 2nd gear tire chirping and low 1/4 mile et's, this is not the right upgrade. If you're looking to perk up a dead stock truck and release what Ford didn't, spend the money. You won't be disappointed. Rick...
