It would be nice to hear what Bill has to say about this, if he sees this thread.

My manual was written in early 2006.

I looked at my manual, and page 24 is not talking about timing and octane at all.
Well it's on page 24 of the manual that came with my Edge as well as the online manual I posted above.
It reads as follows:

The WOT Fuel option adjusts the amount of fuel during WOT. A value of 1.5 increasesthe fuel by 50%. A value of 1.8 increases the fuel by 80%. Using a higher value may improve performance during hard acceleration. This value only effects WOT fueling and has no effect on normal driving conditions.

Going to be interesting to see what you think of Level 3. Not all these trucks are the same. Some just respond better than others. Mine was such a dog on the stock tune, that it was a big improvement. Mine had been reflashed twice at the dealer and they finally got a tune in it that I could live with, but it was slow, no fun at all. They did eliminate the hesitation I had on acceleration.

I'm looking forward to trying out level 3 too!

I never really had any complaints about the stock power of my truck. I had it flashed once, but only because I wanted the latest flash. Other than that I had no complaints, and I didn't notice any difference after the flash. My truck has a late build date in 05 so perhaps it was already up to snuff in the updates department.
I definitely notice a difference with level 2 now, especially after switching back and forth from stock to level 2 last night. I'm trying to keep my expectations low so I don't ruin anything for my new experience on level 3

My truck was built 11/22/04, so it was a dog.

I've been monitoring my miles per gallon and my average miles per gallon closely.
Something I've discovered is that it sure "seems" like my AMPG climbs back up faster when I accelerate fast to get up to speed, and then set the cruise or just maintain speed manually.
Funny because I thought it was the opposite. I always figured feathering the gas was better for mileage by slowly getting to speed. The thing is, by slowly getting up to speed there's load and throttle being applied for a longer period of time, and during that period of time the MPG is **** poor.

Thanks for clearifying, I was under the impression that level three was to be used with 93 octane fuel, not 91. I will test out level three then.

I have read somewhere that it takes less fuel to take off fairly quickly and get up to speed quicker than if you take off slowly and gradually get up to speed. It takes a greater distance, and the total resistance is more. I decided to believe it as I like to get going quickly!

A long time ago (and in a galaxy far, far away?), I read the same thing Bluejay. It may have been during the oil embargo in the 70s! The point was to get it into the high gear ranges fairly quickly. And since the increased fuel flow was for a shorter period of time, it was more economical.

Exactly. Made sense to me, whether true or not.

You need a supercharger. That should make sense to you, whether true or not as well.

An SC would just keep me in more trouble than I am!

I have a few questions about tuners as well. I do have to wait for Edge to come out with a tuner for my 09 f150, so i have a little while to educate myself.

1. Do you or should you custom tune the parameters when adding mods like exhaust and intakes? or if you have a custom setting in place you are happy with on stock, should you retune again? will it make a difference?

2. Do dealers like these units? am i going to void a warranty with a tuner?

I had more questions earlier... But cant for the life of me remember the rest.
