First time I heard it Jim, I thought it was something in the transmission - and I was pretty sure I didn't want to hear a squeal from that part of the drivetrain.

I was much happier when I learned it was the stupid serpentine belt. A little squeak now and then from that thing is fine. It never did it, of course, before I got the programmer.

Nope, mine didn't either. Of course, like you say, the first time it did it with me, I was the one nearly messing my britches.

The first time I had the edge hooked up I got the belt squeal. I knew exactly what it was. Switched to a gatorback and the squeal is a thing of the past.

I think I'll get a gatorback here in a few weeks, after calipers, new brakes(again) and getting my 4wheeler back. Would advance or any local type of place have them or will I be better off buying online?

And BTW, the more I drive it the more I get used to the touchier throttle and the more I really like it...level 1 is such an improvement shifting wise, I cant wait to have the custom tune to make the engine run better. I put about 50 miles on it tonight, it feels like the truck is learning a little bit... and on the highway, I can actually increase speed at 60 without dropping into 3rd and back to OD 3-4x

I picked mine (belt) up at Autozone. It took them a day to get it but that was it. I had to call and ask as it wasn't shown on their website.

Do the Gryphon canned tunes have the same potential issues as the edge canned tunes? (ie tranny problems) Or does Bill have different parameters set on the gryphon for the canned tunes?

The Edge and Gryphon are exactly the same canned tunes. Don't know about tranny problems. My truck runs better with the Edge.

what issues you speaking of? it made my tranny normal, they are the same canned tunes

I'll go to autozone tonight and see if they have one...I cannot stand that squeel...makes it sound like a POS...plus I dont know how you guys can have +12 on the WOT shifts...mine is at -5 and I cringe when it shifts because the squeel is so bad haha

I've read on this board about the very odd person/truck having stuttering issues at freeway speeds on level 3. I can only recall one, and that was Turd Ferguson from this board.
I have it at +12 +12 +10 and I find the shifts quick and crisp at WOT. Try it and see if you like it.

Very few have reported issues and those were resolved through updates by Edge long ago. To answer your question, the canned tunes are the same as the Edge. Bill buys his hardware from Edge and puts the Gryphon shell on it and ships it to you. The big difference is not in the hardware or canned tunes, but in Bill's custom tunes and the customer service you get from PHP.

I have a small shutter from 1-2 and sometime from 2-3, i did the update from edge and i still have it. It goes away if i return the truck to stock. I experience this on lvl 2. Im hoping that when i ship it to PHP to upgrade to a gryphon with a 87 performance tune that it will go away. We'll see.

Is this at WOT or on heavy acceleration, near WOT or is it all the time?
