Tuners & city driving

I have been thinking about getting a Gryphon and I was wondering if it would even benefit my driving habits.

I only work 2 miles from where I live and its pretty much stop signs every 2 blocks. My speeds are only 30-35.

Another thing is I'm a Volunteer Firefighter and I drive 1 mile to the fire station.
Same deal stop sings every couple of blocks.
Posted speeds are 30, but when the pager is sounding my foot is a little heavier then normal.

Because of this driving style I have pretty crappy gas mileage. Can a tuner help?

Thanks in advance!

I doubt your mileage would improve much but throttle response would be better and wake your truck up.

Wow! You ought to be riding a bike to work, and even to the fire station! (Probably get there faster - no parking hassles, etc. - Of course you do live in the frozen North, so that's a consideration).

Boy, your question is a tough one! In town driving, not towing anything, not one of the "beat you to the next stoplight" crowd, ... I think it's a tossup!

I know I want the crisp passing power when I have to pass someone when we're on a trip. And, I know I get better performance and gas mileage in those situations too. Don't you EVER take your truck anywhere? If not, I'm tempted to ask, "Why did you get this truck in the first place? And, a King Ranch, no less?" Please don't hear a "put down" here, I'm just trying to get a complete picture of your driving needs.

So, I guess I'll just say it this way: If you ever decide to drive your truck more, out on the open road, or pulling something, you'll be glad you have a Gryphon. I am!

If I were in your shoes I would bike to work. Minneapolis is a great town for biking.

From now to 1st snow I'll be riding my motorcycle to work.
The main reason I take my truck to work is bcz if I get a fire call while @ work I will respond.
If I was to run to work or to take my mtn. bike then I would never make a fire truck. And that would suck.

I put most of my miles on in the fall when I do a lot of hunting. All my kinfolk live within 30 miles.

The mileage is reasonable when we go out of town and the truck rides great. More passing power would be great thou.

The #1 reason I bought the KR is bcz the price was right. #2 my wife loved the heated seats.

I love it! That's why I bought my truck (used - in mint condition) too! And, get this, Janet loves the heated seats too, in the winter! Go figure - I've never even turned them on on my side.

Honestly, though - If you drive that thing anywhere besides the two miles to work or the one mile to the fire station, you're going to love the way it responds with a programmer and a custom tune. I say, go for it!

I don't think it matters what kind of driving you do, you will benefit from the gryphon...It has improved driveability in so many situations on my truck, even in stop and go it shifts better and have less lag after the shift, and on long distance trips it makes even more of a difference

I'm amazed how many people buy a vehicle because it has heated seats. My wife said that if I found a red truck with heated seats I could buy it. In winter she's pushing that heated seat button every fifteen minutes. It has to be darn cold before I'll push that button.
