Here's anew one.
I have owned an Edge programmer since 2006. Never had any problems with the unit except if you put the truck in second gear or shift into 4w low lock then it takes you to push the gas pedal half way to the floor before the motor comes off idle. I never use low lock or second on the shifter so it never has mattered. I decided to call Edge today to ask about updating and if it was worth any HP to updated on the internet after 3 years. They seemed to be very helpful but told me I would not gain any power updating but I should send them my Edge programmer and cable plus $50 and they would send me a new one because my hardware is very old.
Do you think this makes sence or should I send in and upgrade to a Gryphon. I want programability, but I also want results that matter when I mash the gas.
Thanks
Chad

Alls I know is that when in 2nd on my truck extra throttle is needed to get it going even when it is in stock. At first it seems tight and sluggish but when the throttle hits about 1/4 to 1/2 then it starts to act "normal". This topic was discussed on php's forum. I can not post a link to it at this time. Maybe edge's firmware update may address this or not. Yes, I would take edge up on their offer. Also if you are considering a gryphon then do it instead of the edge.

Your delima with the throttle response in 2nd gear or in 4x4 low is a built in traction control. Ford does it this way with your transmissions to get you out of slippery situations. So it's like that every time you are doing what you are doing and can not be tuned out. Sorry it's not the edge causing the problem.

So to some degree it is tuner adjustable but not tuner removable? Both in 2nd and in 4x4?

Simply, Driver Demand tables controls the amount of torque available at the 'pedal', this can be increased. But you are still starting in second gear and the TC unlocked.

It is not only this way with the 4x4's. My 2wd is the same way. I use second to pull my boat out of the water because it cuts down on the tire slippage. Truck doesn't respond much until about 1/2 throttle when pulling all that weight up a grade.

2nd gear; 2HI & 4HI uses the same driver demand table, 4LO is separate. Again you are starting in a lower numerical gear, that lessens the chance of immediate wheel slip.

This subject was beat to death over in PHP's forum in this thread: http://dygytalworld.ehost-services13...read.php?t=573
88racing asked me to find it and post the link, so here it is. You'll see we went through a rather long discussion with a lot of incorrect statements before we finally arrived at the fact that power seems to be reduced at low Pedal Position/RPM when locked in 2nd gear.
