i have not a clue what a tuner does but the edge sounds like a good piece of equipment. i dont wanna sound like a pest or anything but can someone fill me in? the only mods i have done to my truck is a magnaflow exhausts, si/so, and a k&n intake kit. my truck is awd with the 5.4L...so would it improve hp,etc on my truck?
thanks, anthony

Canned tunes are the generic tunes that the tuners come with for stock trucks. CUstom tunes are basically catered to your truck's mod and your needs. Like a performance tune that takes into accournt your exhaust, CAI or any other mods the truck has. There is a bigger gain from them and smoother shifting. One of the best bang for the buck mods available to us. It is on my to do list (Gryphon)

Yeah, that's how you see the most gains from your mods. The gyrphon is nice because it has the gauges in cab so you can view various parameters of our choice. PHP's site is PHPtune.com. VMP (VMPtuning.com) and Troyer (Troyerperformance.com) offer the XCal 3 and SCT Livewire. They are all good tuners but I like the gryhon for the gauges. It is $399 plus $30 for each custom tune. That is reasonable to me

Well the tuners (if you opt for custom tunes) allow you to decide on usually up to 3 custom tunes of your choice. AN example would be: I want an 87 economy tune for my truck on the Gryphon. I would have it replace canned tune level 1 and then it would leave me with the canned tow tune (level two) and the 91 or whatever performance tune (level 3) So I would be buying the gryphon with 1 custom tune which would be stored in the spot where the canned level 1 tune would be and then I would have 2 canned tunes that I could use if I wanted. Does that make sense?
