well i'm fortunate i live close enough to make the 3 hour drive. i enjoy talking to MT because you learn so much. Has for the long wait time I guess things are getting backed up. I remember one post where someone said there tunes took 9 months but then he never said he kept calling them making changes to the truck like exhaust, intake and gears. There is always 2 sides to every story and I'm not saying thats the case here. If you do a search and see the wait time is long then go elsewhere. It's just sad that people can do searches and see what's happening. Then they make the decision and want to bash someone on the board. On another note when MT wasn't that busy he use to post up here. Imagine how long it would take to get a tune if all he did was surf the net posting and talking on the phone. Give the man a break he is the best in the business. Want a tune take a drive that's what I do. If you can't drive that far then take the chance and do the mail order. Let's stop the threads that keep reiterating what we already know. Next thread please

Show me a thread from a year ago that said Troyer was taking 9 - 10 months for a tune back in early 2009. Post up. I've been here, this is fairly recent information. I wonder what the wait is if you want a tune now? Might be lucky to see it in a year or more. If people are waiting that long for a tune on a near stock truck, I have some prime real estate to sell them on Cypress Island. I'm not saying he doesn't know his stuff, but if you think he's the only guy on the planet that can tune a near stock F-150, you deserve what you get. Caveat Emptor! Next thread... indeed!

Sorry guys. It seemed like when i ordered my tunes w/ the last elec fan group buy, that, i was thinking it was gonna be awhile before I got my tunes. But i wasn't expecting the 9+ months I waited. I also got the free 93 tow tune for compensation of having to wait which was a nice bonus. Was it worth it? I will say I'm happy with the product not the wait or phine calls that had reason after reason for being delayed. Sickness, snow fall this year and how busy the business was, After all I'm part of that reason, right, I am a customer. But I do travel all the time so I only thought about it when I was at home driving or tripping over the pullies and fans in my garage. I know I'm happy when I am home now. Sorry Windsor, the quote above is from 4/4/2009 I know it doesn't quite meet the recomendations you asked for but it does show that even back then they were having some back up. It didn't stop me from ordering and if I ever need anything else I'd go back just because it was a quality product. But I'll drive next time

How long were you on the phone with him? I called over there once. Simple question. Fuse burnt on e-fan, and melted inside fuse holder. The simple fix was to install a new fuse holder, double check my wiring, and then make sure that the switch was still working. The problem was with the ground wire connection and I haven't had a problem since. Simple, right? I didn't even ask to speak to him. I just needed one of his staffers to send me a new fuse holder under warranty, or let me know that I had to go to Radio Shack to get my own.

Dude, Mike had me on the phone for close to two hours. He had me get my tuner, plug it into the truck, drive 4 counties over on the freeway, told me about his meat loaf recipe, talked about 70's fashions coming back into style, debated favorite flavors of ice cream vs Italian gelato, lamented over the break-up of Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis, I learned his shoe size.......okay, none of that actually happended. But you get the idea.

Mike got on the phone, and it was really more like a 45 minute call as he "walked" me through the install instructions, explaining every step, all while asking me questions, and we narrowed it down to the placement of the ground wire. Dude explained way more than I needed to know about which wires went where, why they went there, the relays & potentiometer set-up, the PCM, the air conditioning unit, the thermostat, how my underdrive pulley effected the output of the alternator & how it all relates to the amperage draw of the fans........and then he looked up my sheet, and started talking about my tunes........wait, it actually was a 2 hour call & now I do know his shoe size.

Why do Troyer Tunes take so long? Maybe because we keep taking up his time one the phone. If you a chance to schedule a drive in appointment, save up a couple of paychecks, because you will drop a pretty penny there. Once you're in the shop, take advantage of it. Have Troyer & his techs install whatever mods that they offer, under their warranty. Troyer sells parts that he has tested and believes in. Not just because he can make the most profit on the part. Or in the case of exhaust components, he sells what he believes offers the best flow & back pressure, not just because it makes the most noise.

I ordered my Troyer tunes 5/5/09 and received them 3/17/10. Took a little over 10 mos.

I was ready to cancel my order, even if they would have promised to have them to me the next day.

Then Mike called me one evening and thanked me for being patient and spent the next 40 min going over the tunes and my truck.

Since I first ordered the tunes I have put over 35,000 miles on the truck.

Anyone know how old Mike is? I've been warning myself that one day I'm going to break down and order a set of tunes from him, but maybe I should be worried that he'll "kick the bucket" before he gets around to my truck?

Hello!

Best to call them, but here is some referential material from one of Mike's posts back in 2007 for a Group Buy ( no longer in effect):

The Group Buy price on our dual 16" fan kit for the 1997-2003 F-150 and our kit for the 2004 & up F-150 is just $379+ shipping. And for those who would like to come to our shop and have us do the installation for you, we will do that on non-supercharged 2004 & newer F-150's for just $125. Supercharged vehicles typically require some additional work for things like the intercooler fluid reservoir, and other things, depending on the kit, so for those we simply charge for the time it actually takes us. This would also apply to trucks that have had significant mods that would add to the installation time - like if the truck is significantly lifted, or just anything that actually either gets in the way or in some manner cause a need for us to do additional work we normally would not have to, that's all.

We originally scheduled the Group Buy to run from December 6th thru January 15th, but given that we are just getting this info up here now, we will extend the length of the Group Buy for registered members of F-150 Online to the 15th of February.

We are also doing some custom tuning specials as well for F-150 Online members.

1.) We are providing the XCal 3 tuning device loaded with 3 of our custom tunes as well as a dyno session including the datalogging & dyno pulls at our shop for just $525 + sales tax. This applies to 1997 - 2008 F-150's as well as 1997-2006 Expeditions that are NOT supercharged or have "heavy" mechanical modifications. the vehicles must be 2WD or 4WD, for AWD applications there will be a surcharge, as we have to do mobile datalogging on those vehicles (for example, the 2007 Harley Davidson with the AWD option).

2.) This is for those of you who already own an SCT flash device like the XCal 2, LiveWire, etc., and do not have our tunes, and now want Troyer Performance custom tuning. For a set of 3 custom tunes and a dyno session to include the datalogging & dyno pulls, this will be just $325.

3.) This is for those who already have our Troyer Performance custom tuning and want all of our latest updates for more power and better driveability, as well as the chance to get in here on our dyno so we can datalog & tweak the vehicle if need be. The cost to update your existing Troyer Performance tunes and do the dyno session on non-supercharged vehicles is just $199.

4.) This applies only to those who have FACTORY supercharged vehicles like the 99-04 Lightning, 02-03 Harley, and the 03-04 Cobra. We will provide the XCal 3 with a set of 3 custom tunes including the datalogging & dyno pulls for just $549. Now here we have to draw some ground rules, the vehicles must still utilize the original Eaton supercharger (it can be ported), and they must not be "heavily" modified (I.E., must be on the original stock engine, not running 18 PSI boost, or bigger injectors, different MAF meters, etc. Now we know a lot of those vehicles *are* heavily modded, and we'll do those too, for a slight additional surcharge, just give us a call and we'll work out a deal for your configuration.

5.) For those who have aftermarket-supercharged trucks (like the Roush vehicles we tune so many of, etc.), please give us a call and we will go over your configuration, and give you a special deal based on what we need to do to that vehicle.

Thanks. Hopefully it won't "hurt" to badly. But from everything that i have read he seems to be the best. I just need to get something done cause my truck is being killed by the computer from all my mods

No wonder he takes so long. He's already collecting Social Security. He doesn't need the money!

S*#%. 93 is anywhere from 30 to 40 cents more per gallon where I live. That's almost an extra $50 per month to run 93 for me as much as I drive, maybe more. I used to run 93 for years but I personally don't think it's worth it anymore.

And no, if that is the wait I would go with VMP over Troyer. I had both and preferred VMP altough my VMP one was a dyno tune vs mail but that wait is ridiculous.
