PCM Replacement
Well I bought an edge off of ebay awhile ago and just now decided to try it. Well it did not work turns out my pcm doesn't like it to much (it will not communicate with it). So my question is should I go get a a pcm form a vehicle at an auto salvage yard? Or should I go to a seller on ebay? Will the pcm work if it was say off a 98 with same engine and transmission? I have a 97 4.6 5r70w transmission? How hard is it to take off and put in, is it worth it? What prices should i pay? Any help is appreciated.

There are several reasons the Edge might not work. The most common one is that the previous owner never returned his truck to stock. If this is the case, Edge can unlock it for you for a fee - I think it will cost $75.00
Your truck's stock program has a "unique" hex code. If you update the firmware in your unit using software from Edge's website (I think it's the "Lighting" application for your model), it may take care of the problem.
Did you have the ignition key ON, with the engine OFF, when you plugged the Edge into your truck? The unit will not boot properly if you plug it in with the ignition OFF.
The OBDII cable may be faulty. This is an ongoing problem with Evolutions for the 97-03 model year trucks. The only solution would be to get a new cable from Edge. I do not know what they cost, but they aren't cheap - there's a circuit board in the OBDII connector that makes them expensive.
Good luck on this - let us know what you find out.

Well I was on the phone with edge for a long time they reprogrammed it back to stock for free just to be safe. I know the cable is good because it not only displays stats of my truck but programed my buddys truck. So it must be something with my truck and they said it must be the pcm being locked up. I know the battery voltage is good as well because I tried multiple battery's and tested voltage. Could the lighting software work waht exactly does it do? Unfortunately it will not work with vista so I'll have to hunt down a computer. Any other suggestions or should i just sell it to someone else? I'd love for it to work and to have a little extra power.

Lightning updates the firmware and calibrations in your Edge. Since it's an older unit, the previous owner may have never done this and it may not recognize your truck's stock HEX code. Check Edge's Support page. The software is either Lightning or Fusion, but I think it's lightning.
And, you DID set your buddy's truck back to stock, right? If not, your Edge is "married" to his truck.
Personally, I'd sell the unit to your buddy and then buy a CS, SCT or Diablo device. Essentially, you're performing "brain surgery" on your truck with this thing, so you want it to be reliable.
