The above post is supposed to read "What is the correct/cheapest model to buy if you plan on just using it for download as well as custom tunes form php?

No. An SCT XCAL3 with custom tunes from PHP, VMP, 5Star Tuning, or Troyer will be less expensive than a CS/CTS with custom tunes from PHP.

The SCT is not meant to be 'permanently' dash or window mounted.

The CS and CTS are so you are paying for the display.
