Which one has better tunes for a 2010 5.4 6 speed? Any differences or about the same with a SCT X3?

 

Both are good. Never heard any complaints on the actual tunes.

The only complaint I've ever heard about Troyer is the VERY long time to get the tunes (via e-mail). There are reports (on this forum) of owners waiting over a year.

Mike Butler can usually have them to you in 1-2 days.

 

x2 on what he said. Id go with 5 Star simply you will have your tuner at your door in less than a week. With Troyer there is no telling when you will get it. I have also read the guys over at 5 Star have great customer service!! Just go out to your truck and pop your hood and get your PCM code so you can give it to him over the phone.

 

X3 on 5 star, had mine in 3 days with custom tunes. Came with a little folder with nice pics with instructions on what to do. Also you can have them tweak your tunes for free.

 

I have 40k trouble free miles on my 5 star tunes with my 08 5.4 and no complaints at all.I will never drive the truck again with the stock tune.I did bring it to the dealer last year for inspection and it failed the emitions test with the 87 performance tune installed.The dealer returned it to stock with the livewire and it passed.

I'm running 5 Star tunes on my 07 while I wait for my Troyer tunes. I'll let you know which is better when I get my TP's. My truck runs really good with the 5 Star. I'm considering going with a SC and having Troyer dyno tune it so it might no be a fair comparison.

 

How long have you been waiting on the Troyer Tunes?

 

I bought my SCT from them in March.

 

5-star....but Troyer is worth it as long as you're willing to wait....

 

I was told 16 week wait for Troyer so I ordered. Only cuz a friend went with Livernios and I wanted to see the difference. It ended up being 21 weeks and the only reason I got then was I called and cancelled. I have 5 star tunes also, and would go hands down with 5 star if I ever needed tunes again. Really silly to wait that long for Troyer.

 

This has been a continuing issue for a few years now. He is the best, but others do a very good job.

 

He could be the best and that was one reason I stuck it out even after the 16 week wait. But seat of the pants feel I say 5 star. Just my thoughts as I have both tunes and can go from one to the other. And have. Dont get me wrong they are both great tunes and would be happy with either, so hats off to both..

 

FWIW -- I placed my order with Troyer on June 21, 2012, for a SCT and a set of custom tunes. I received my programmer in a few days, but as of this date (4/19/13) I haven't heard so much as a "boo" out of them regarding the custom tunes. My goal was to do this as a sort of test to find out how long it would actually take Troyer to deliver on a set of custom tunes without being pestered, but am beginning to think I will have to resort to badgering them as others on this forum have had to do......

 

Just call and tell them to cancel. Call cc company to decline any transaction from them.
