Mine does the exact same on my 2010 5.4L , tech told me to use higher octane but that's all they could do since the programmer was for my old truck but I changed the software for it to be compatible with my current truck. Though I don't wana be having to put in 93 octane every fill up on a 87 tune...

Just so I'm clear, do you have a Hypertech 42003 Max Energy Power Programmer too?

Just reinforces my opinion that HyperTech should change their name to CrapTech.

I've read way too many horror stories about their programmers, tunes, and customer service.

SCT has the better record....there's a few tuners that know how to write custom email tunes for them also....

I was just able to verify that the dieseling sound I was hearing was coming from the tune's transmission enhancements, not the timing.

After the tune was modified to reduce the transmission changes, the sound went away completely. I'm now working with them to adjust the tune to it's potential.

They really should, bought it a few years back because they had a great deal going on at the time. It was orginally for my 06' F250 with a 5.4L, ended up to the point where even on stock my engine would ping constantly. I thought with new software it wouldnt repeat its past history with my current truck, guess I was wrong. I' am going to take it off and wait until I have some money to buy an Edge or SCT programmer.

There is a ping fix for the 2010 f150 5.4. Load the software on your PC and update the tuner. Thanks, Gary @ Hypertech
