Hello new to the forum. I was thinking of buying a Edge from a guy online and have read a couple post about cable problems What does this mean and does it mean that I need to veer away from this particular one?

I don't believe Edge Evo had any problems with their cables, but when Power Hungry Performance first started doing the Gryphon upgrade is where the cable issue came into play, but since then have resolved this issue. You have nothing to worry about, they are a very awesome product!

The Evo cable for the 97-03 trucks was bad, whether it was Gryphonized or not.

This problem was never resolved.....php just quit selling and upgrading them for the 97-03's while edge continues to sell them....originally it was thought to be a BAD lot of cables....the edge cs and cts have NO cable issues with the 97-03's its only the evolution that does.....

my edge evo is awesome i love it. although sometimes it shuts down when its really hot in my car here in az. also i wouldnt trust the diagnostic setting again it said i had an imrc stuck close so i took the whole intake manifold off to get to it and it seemed like there was nothing wrong with it so i bought a new imrc intalled it, still getting the code on the edge evo but when hooked up to a diagnostic computer no codes so what a waste of time. but i still love my evo

I was one of the unlucky ones that got the bad cable. The truck wouldnt start and after two days with edge customer service i finally had to have the truck towed to ford to get the pcm reflashed. But edge did step up and reimbursed me for towing and the reflash at ford..

Im buying a truck with one already, think Ill take my chances till I can drop some cash for the CTS. If you dont mind me asking what did the stock reflash itself cost?
