Yes I seen all the posts etc, then I shot over to the SCT website, so the dongle is the little black plug that goes into the ODB2 port?

Correct. The dongle is the physical interface between the truck and the app, which allows you to interface via the APP.

Trust that clarifies, let me know any questions, glad to help!

$469 for that little black plug? I have been thinking about getting a SCT tuner for quite some time for my 2011 5.0 though, but $469 or ever $400 is way out to lunch...

The wireless tuner is more expensive the normal SF3 3015 unit yes but that is the standard pricing you will see for it pretty much everywhere. It does the same job tuning the vehicle as the SF3 tuner just has more features.

You are paying for the development, tunes, and support. The electronics themselves are cheap. It's just like anything else - you think an iPad is worth what Apple gets for it?

I've been out of the game a while, but what exactly is the dongle? I had the sct xcal 2 on my old truck and you just plugged it into the obdII port and went from there.

It plugs into the port and interfaces with your smartphone via Bluetooth. The tunes are in the phone and you use the phone to load them.

What he said. It's the physical device that plugs into the OBII port and allows you to interface with the trucks PCM via the app on your phone.

Franchi, a concern I have with this phone wireless app. What happens when you break your phone? Can the tuner still function? Or how about when you take your phone with you leave the truck running and is out of distance from the dongal, will it mess up the tune or truck in any way?

You only upload the tune once when you first load it on the truck, it's not a constant connection required. And if you break the phone, the tune will still work, just need to resynch it to another phone to be able to alter any more parameters or swap tunes. So you don't have to worry about if you are in range or not, or even leaving the dongle plugged in. I personally keep my dongle in my glovebox so I can swap tunes on the spot wherever I am should I want.

Let me know any more questions, glad to help!

Correct, you can't change anything in demo. It basically just shows the layout for the app.

So has anyone actually purchased one of these yet? SCT seems to be preferred for custom tunes but I want to be able to monitor things on the vehicle as well. With my STX, there isn't much being monitored for me to see. Do your custom tunes get attached to your google account for the Android app should my phone bite the dust?
