Question Rpm?

Is there any reason why you wouldn't lower your RPM? My truck's rpm was set at the factory at 620 rpm. My programmer allows me to drop it to 570 rpm. I like it better but I am wondering if it will do any damage. Thanks!

if the idle rpms are to slow the charging system may not keep the battery adequately charged....also when put into gear the transmission load will bring the idle down some more...

the only time I changed that setting is when I had under drive pulleys installed and then I had to up the idle rpms.....without changing that stock setting my lights would dim when I was stopped in gear....

Less efficient combustion if it's idling lower than design.

So far, I am not seeing any ill affects from doing this. Looks like I am seeing lower trans temps since I lowered the RPM.
