Question about Tuner Models

So I have a Hypertech Power Programmer part 42003 built for 2004-2010 Ford Gas Trucks and fits the 4.2L V6 F150 , but my truck is a 2003 F150 4.2L V6. Is it possible for this to work on my truck, or possible to have it reprogrammed to work for my truck?

I would guess not, because the 04+ has electronic throttle, you have conventional. Not a particularly good programmer either.

Is it possible to have the programmer flashed to work with my vehicle? They made this version for my truck, but seeing as how a friend is giving me this, this is a much cheaper road for a conventinal programmer than spending $400.

You need to talk to Hypertech about this. I suspect, as glc told you, that this programmer will not work in your truck. But, the only true answer to your question is the one you will get from Hypertech.

I know $400 is a lot of money, but you need to compare that with the value of your truck. A programmer is going to do "brain surgery" on your vehicle's PCM. You want a good surgeon for this process.

Thanks Jack, I agree especially when you put it like that. Ended up goingwith SCT 3015 model with pre loaded tunes since I do not plan on doing major modifications other than bolt ons at this time. Thanks everyone for the input and wisdom shared, learn something new about my truck every day!

Custom tunes are WELL worth it over canned tunes.
