Sct x3 or gryphon?
This has probably been asked before but I've been going back and forth between the idea of the sct x3 or a gryphon the last couple of days cause I would really prefer custom tunes. This weekend I'll be going with the gotts mod with a k&n drop in plus updating the ignition system a bit then installing my underdrives next week, and eventually longtubes and 3.90 gears. Anyways I'm really trying to figure out which tuner to go with so any help would be greatly appreciated!

I would go SCT with 5 Star tunes. Gotts mod is great, but reconsider the K&N - it doesn't filter out dust as well as a dry filter and the oil can foul the MAF sensor. I use an Amsoil nanofilter in mine, it's cleanable and reusable. What kind of ignition "upgrades" are you thinking about? Also, you can't get 3.90 gears for Ford 8.8 axles, do you mean 4.10's?

Nothing serious on the ignition side just was time for a tune up so I went with granetelli 42,000 volt COP with the NGK laser iridium plugs hopefully they do some good considering the price lol. I found the 3.90 gears on jegs for the 8.8 but maybe I misread somewhere I was considering 4.10 but in the sake of mileage I'll probably just go 3.73's. how much does the amsoil filter run? And do you have any clue how much a custom tune from 5star would run me?

Unfortunately, premium plugs and cops are a waste of money unless you are doing some other really heavy mods. Motorcraft platinum plugs and OEM quality Visteon cops are the best for the money.
Upgrading from 3.55 to 3.73 isn't worth it - 4.10's are the best for the 4.6.
Check 5 Star's website - they sell programmers with custom tunes as a package deal.
