Exclamation CRITICAL SCT X3 / SF3 Firmware Update ...

^^^ Crap. That's SCT X3 / SF3 ... need - sorry aboot that, fellers... ^^^

http://sctflash.com/sctnews.php?NID=15

Yeah, I know, it's not new - but I reckon a few folks still have not seen this. And I betcha more than a few places selling these over-the-counter or online as canned devices never bothered to do the update for their customers, nor informed them to do it themselves.

Besides - it's still up on SCT's site so it must be important.

Highly Recommend y'all check yer F/W revision and update if necessary.

Contact SCT Tech Support if you need more help.

Hi Sam!

No sir - yer fine - this (Admittedly older) directive was meant for folks with a F/W revision prior to 1.2.142. Anything later is presumably okay.

Thanks!

Is it necessary to put "stock file" back on truck before updating my x3?

Hi.

Yep.

Page #2 of the Updater install instructions is very clear on that point:

So what was messing up? And is it just if you have canned tunes or is it all x3s even with custom tunes?

Hi Timmy;

They won't say ( but I suspect it was to address all those reported unit failures after using the Updater, lol.).

This is for any and all X3/SF3's that are BELOW the firmware revision stated, regardless of canned or custom.

MGD - I can't help but recall the adage that, "No good deed goes unpunished" as I follow this thread. Keep fighting the good fight!

I got 1.2.134 on mine.

Never would have bothered to look for updates if you didn't post this, and the tuner forum isn't one that I visit that often any more.

Thanks MGD for the reminder. Now I just gotta find the time to return to stock (yawn), update firmware, (How time consuming is this part going to be?), and begin the patient task of re-installing my tune back into the truck.

I HATE how long the thing takes to RTS and then load custom. I have wayyyy better things to do. Oh wait, I have a tv in the garage and the olympics start tomorrow.

Whining finished......

Throw a trickle charger on the battery and sit back for a couple of hours. Super slow on the 09-10 trucks. Makes it run well though.

I have to check mine. I haven't used my tuner since I got it in late 2010.
