Can my diablosport programmer read diagnostic codes from other fords? I have a programmer for my 08 5.4 and my girl friends dad freaks when he sees the check engine light on his 02 5.4 expedition. I know they are different engines but wondering if I can at least read his fault codes on my diablosport programmer to help him.

 

Tell him to spend 20 bucks and buy his own code reader.

 

should work just fine for reading and clearing codes






if he has frequent CEL's there might be some other issues that need to be addressed

 

I think the Diablos are one of the good ones that can be used on anything, maybe? SCTs definitely can't do all vehicles, but might be able to do other Fords. I think I used my SCT on a buddy's Mustang, but hell, I can't remember.

 

Which tool do you have?
If its an older Predator, it will likely only read/clear codes on other CAN based fords (04+ F150, 05+ Stang). if its an inTune or Trinity, it can/read clear codes on any Ford/GM/DCX applications that is similar to what we support.

Sorry I forgot to specify I do have a diablosport predator for 04-08 f150's. So with this I can or can't read and clear codes on his '02 expedition? I already know I can't tune it... will this possibly damage the predator unit?

Oh and what is intune and trinity all about?

 

I would just try it and see. I know my friend with an 04 f150 read my 02 f150 with a cheap flashpaq. But my buddy with a dodge tried with his flashpaq and couldn't but it did no harm to my truck or his programmer.
So I would think a good programmer like the predator should be able to read most obd2 fords, at least gas engines.
