I went ahead and ordered a SCT X4 for my 5.0 from Power Hungry Performace on 3-21 and received it on the 26th, which worked out great because of the appointment for the custom tune at PHP on the 27th. Just got back from there shop and on the ride home the truck had a much improved off idle throttle response (reminded me of my old 442), the mid-range is also much improved, transmission shifting was tuned for my needs, and everything led to a big improvement over the canned tunes.

 

Review of the Power Hungry Performance tune is the throttle response and power are a nice improvement from the oe 5.0 tune, but the torque converter kicks out just before the 3-4, 4-5 and 5-6 up shift under normal driving conditions, so they did a revise tune and it helped some, but it is bad enough for me to remove the tune while they come up with a resolution.
While patently waiting I bought a MPT 93 tune and same converter issue, after a couple of revises they have the converter acting like it is suppose too. Great customer service from MPT resolving the program in a timely matter.
