Need tuning advice!
Ok I have purchased a Jet Performance Programmer and I want to do a custom tune for my 97 Expedition. I'm not a very techy kinda guy so I don't know much about this stuff. I just need some info from the pro's out there and tell me what I should adjust the shift firmness, shift points, rev limiter, top speed limiter, ext. to to get the most performance out of this without decreasing the life of my tranny. I need all the info I can get please
Also what kinda hp and mpg gains should I see?
Thanks
97 expy with 295/70r17 trail grapplers
spectra air intake
flowmaster 40 dual exhaust

I've never heard of it! That doesn't mean it's junk, possibly it's just a new product.
However, you can increase the top speed limiter to anything you want. It won't hurt the vehicle unless you drive it faster than the road conditions allow or, exceed the tire's speed rating. Just because the limit is high, doesn't mean you have to drive it that fast.
The shift firmness should be set so the shifts are "quick", but you don't want to feel an abrupt "punch" when the shift takes place. That puts stress on the mechanical components. One of our members, Longshot270, says it should not feel like a kid is behind you kicking the seat when the shift takes place.
I don't know what transmission your vehicle has, but a 2000-2008 F150 can start to have torque converter ballooning above 5400 RPM. I would not set the rev limit much above that.
I think your WOT shift points should be at least 400 RPM below the rev limit, or they may not complete. Part throttle shifts can really be adjusted any way you like.
I have no idea if you'll see any MPG gains, and I would expect no more than a 15 HP gain, if you're lucky.
