Is my truck overriding my tune?

Seems like....and this is the 2nd time this has happened...that my tune is being overridden or partially dropped. Using the Hypertech MaxEnergy, and I am retaining the speedo correction applications but the shifting and regular fuel tunes seem to just "drop off" for no apparent reason- at least not one apparent to me.

The first time, I returned to stock, upgraded the software and re-installed. No hitches, on I went. That lasted about 3 months, now it seems to have done it again. My shift firmness is gone, shift points are gone, and the extra "oomph" is gone.

Experience? Suggestions? Ideas?

Not looking for "bash my tuner" comments, I've been pretty happy with it.

What year truck? The newer trucks have "adaptive transmissions" that may make it seem like the tune is changing. I've noticed that every time I load my tune, the first few hundred miles are a little different. That could be what you are seeing.

There... And I didn't even bash Hypertech.

Annnd I just saw your signature. I'm guessing it's the 02, so what I said doesn't apply, sorry.

Adaptive learn on our trucks is great for doing that. Drive it harder and it will come back or just reload the tune. I have a SCT xcal II that does the same thing. Someone had said the adaptive could be turned off....I never heard back. Mines so bad that it even softens my shift kit

That makes a lot of sense...it adapted pretty well after my exhaust work, and I guess now that some of the novelty of the new roar has worn some and I am maybe goosing it a bit less, maybe it thinks I want to save gas...which I measured to be a gain of .3 and .7 last 2 fill-ups btw...

Am I being out-thunk by my own little on-board Hal here? It would seem that way, but out-thinking me ain't that big a challenge.

About a year or so ago, Bill Cohron at PHP said in one of his posts on the PHP forum that he turns off adaptive learning in his tunes. I don't know if he still does this, but it seems like the logical thing to do, if it's possible.

He used to, but I just checked his website and can find no mention of it now: http://phptune.com/ If you're interested in this, give him a call. He might be able to help you.

Reloaded, back to spunky. Musta been the adaptive kicking in, better just keep my foot on the pedal harder to be safe!
