1998 F150 XLT Chip Help

Hey Guys,

I just bought a used 1998 4x4 F150 XLT with the 4.6L motor and I am looking for a good chip to install along with a cold air intake to possibly improve performance and mpg. Most sites I visit (superchip, Dilabio, Etc) only have chips for 1999 F150's and on. I know most people swear by Troyer Performance but I have emailed them twice with no response and the phone number wont work. Troyer advertises a superchip 1865 in their "TP-9703TUNER" package for my model and year truck but when I called Superchip, they told me that that chip is not compatible with my truck. Does anyone make a decent chip for this year and if so what do you recommend. Thank you.

Troyer is good but hard to get a hold of. Other options are vmptuning, 5 star, and power hungry performance. 97 and up are compatible with flash tuners thru the obd2 port. I went with vmptuning and am very satisfied. Email justin@vmptuning.com with questions or the others which you will have to look up on their sites.

Thanks, I have read good things about vmp. I think that's who I will go with. Thanks again for the info.

No problem. Also justin took like 3 or 4 days to email back at the worst. Usually it was about 2 days. Also forgot to mention troyers tunes usually have about a 6 month waiting list til you get them. Vmp it took 3 days for them to email them to me. I have my tunes on an sct x3. There are newer ones out now too.
