Question Superchip programer?

Whats the word on the programer? Heard it's out for the PSD already. Will there be one for the 4.2? If so I want one yesterday.

Hi Scar,

We have released the Superchips Micro Tuner for the Ford Powerstroke diesel, that unit is currently shipping, and already heavily backordered. It is a unique unit, the first of it's kind, in that while it is ordered, stocked, sold and installed in a "generic" fashion, it's still code-specific to each individual vehicle in the background. What it does when connected is to go out and do a read of the vehicle's ECU to determine which software revision it's using, and then automatically upload the matching performance program for that specific vehicle's computer code. This is all done transparently. The Superchips Micro Tuner for the Ford Powerstroke Diesel will work on all Powerstroke diesels, from the earliest 1994.5 units to the latest 2002's.

That is the first Superchips Micro Tuner for Ford vehicles, and in time, others will follow. However, it will be some time before anything like that is available for the F-150's, those owners will continue to use the regular Superchip.

The thing to remember here is that in these F-150's, they have more different computer codes for each model year than any vehicle made, so it's a much more involved project to make the Micro Tuner for all of the thousands of different computer codes just for the 1997 & up F-150. It's going to be awhile before anything like that is released for the F-150 due to those and other issues. It will of couse be considerably more expensive than the current Superchip as well.
