Question 1991 5.0 F150 chip question

Does any one have any experience with a Superchip on 1991 F150 5.0 ? The truck kinda doggy on the performance . What kind performance would I get with the chip ? What other mods would you recommend ?

I put a Superchip and Airaid in my Screw and love it . I was wondering if it would do the same thing for the "other" truck .

Thanks in advance ..

i have a 90' xlt . only mods i have done as yet is exhaust and a homemade fipk . it has greatly improved the performance .(not that it didnt perform before) i have more mods planned and the Schip is one of them . i am shooting for as close to 300 hp as possible . the stock 5.0 from what i have read is 200 hp . i figure with the 2 mods i am close to 240 . and i am hoping that each mod (pulley's,chip and TB) well give me 20 hp each. that should put me right at 300

Hi canyonslicker,

If you wouldn't mind a general response from us..............

Yes, you'll get the same basic type of power gains on those older trucks from the Superchip and from a good airbox elimination kit as you did on your newer F-150.

The Superchip tuning generally gives about a 10% power gain on most gasoline engines, and that applies for your 5.0 as well as the newer trucks, as they are all tuned similarly from the factory. Those 5.0's aren't very powerful in those earlier trucks, most of them are about 200 HP, and that's a lot of weight to carry around with less than 300 lbs./ft. of torque.

Those 5.0's have all the potential in the world for performance, so that truck's performance certainly can be improved significantly with the same basic types of bolt-ons that many people use in the newer trucks.

If you'd like to go over any of that indetail, please feel free to give us a call.

Good luck with your truck!
