Hypertech and shift points...?

Hypertech and shift points...?
I installed my hypertech and was only able to change 2 things with it.... I was pnly able to choose from regular gas to premium and then stock shifts or firmer shifting... I heard I should be able to change other things such as my shift points and rev limiter... Is this true?? I have a 5.4L so there isnt a governer. Anyone know how to get into the area to change these such things?? Or does it automatically remove the rev limiter?? It doesnt show in the book how to change these, but I have heard you can. Oh yeah, I have the Programmer III.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Hi 4X4PWR,
You're running into the difference between the hype and the reality here, basically.
What Hypertech does in this regard is mostly give you a very basic Yes/No over things that almost everyone wants already (removed TS limiter, firmed shifts in the automatics, etc.), and that are included with any Superchip program. In all fairness,
another point is that different vehicles, and sometimes even the same vehicle but a different model year, engine or transmission will also dictate what you can actually change with that unit.
In those dual-octane Hypertech units, they have storage limitations and that limits the number of parameters that they can let you have a Yes/No option for.
I'd suggest calling the manufacturer direclty on this to get the straight scoop directly from them, rather than relaying on anything that we or others might say here, as the manufacturer will know all of this exactly for your application, and thus they'll be able to help you best.
Good luck!

You can see from my signature what year and config I have.
I thought I would give you a real world comparison...well maybe calling it a seat of the pants comparison is a better way to put it.
About 2 weeks ago I purchased and installed the Hypertech. The 2 main issues I had at the time where...kill my darned speed limiter and tighten up shift patterns. Since the Hyperjoke did not kill my speed limiter as promised and the shifting did not change a heck of alot from stock...I sent the POS back and received a refund. After contacting them they confessed that their product could not remove my governor.
I will give them this...I did notice some change in shifting when I would floor it...but only when RPM got above around 3000 or so.
I ordered a superchip from Mike and .....HOLY SH#T BATMAN...that was much more like what I expected. My upper speed limiter no longer exists and I FEEL the added umph throughout all ranges of RPM...This thing "ROCKS" for the money I spent on it.
Now don't expect drag strip performance with it, but when you feel the difference between the superchip and Hypertech you will be surprised.
My .02 worth.....Dump the Hyperjoke and get a superchip.
P.S. I am not on commissions from them...LOL. I am still in my Holy Crap stage with this chip.

Hmm...
I called Hypertech today and found out that in my 5.4L it only firmed up the shifts and allowed me to use higher octane gas. I am not as satisfied with this product as I thought I would be. Did you contact Hypertech directly or did you contact the company that you purchased this product from? I would really like to trade in my Hypertech and Purchase a SuperChip if at all possible! I really dont feel the "seat of the pants". It seems as though it didnt do anything more than firm up my shifts... How big of a joke is that? 350 bucks to firm up my shifts.. what a joke. I could pay double that and get a shift kit and it would make a huge differance. Anyhow I plan on taking my Hypertech back if I can get away with it. I dont see why I couldnt... Its false advertisement!
Thanks for the input!

They must get alot of them back...they did not flinch when my bud at the Hotrod shop called them...But he did sit on hold for better than 30 minutes before getting support.
No crap...call mike or anita...They always answer when I call and they do as they promise. He posted his info in his sig. line above to you.
I did not get the flip chip or custom programing, but I will say it was less than the Hypercrap.
I don't think we are suppose to talk prices on the forum...but call them and they will give you how much. Get the computer code off the passenger side door to give them when you call...don't take the sticker off the door...LOL....write it down. It is a white sticker, open the door and look towards the firewall area, it is actually on the door frame and not the actual door.
Good Luck,

Well Crap, one more tidbit
Before returning the Hypercrap.....be sure to put your stock program back into your truck. These things only program for one vehicle at a time.
And you would not want the Hypertech program to screw with your super chip program.
OK That's it............Rocks
I'm watching the History Channel about camo development...a bit distracting thinking about trucks.

Hypercrap....
I am going to go down tomorrow and unprogram my truck before I take it back. I did pay with a credit card so it will be really hard for them not to refund my money! Plus I am taking my fiance.. She is defiantly not the person to argue against. =) I dont think I should have too much problems, considering all the false advertisement that it shows! I was really mislead. I figure if they dont give me what they want I could always egg there shop and use sugar in their tanks??? Ok... Thats a little extensive, but I would defiantly not buy any other product from their shop and prolly put a sign in the back of my bed that says not to buy anything from the local shop intown... I just hope they are as willing to send it back as I am. Considering it is a POS I think they wouldnt mind sending it back.. Considering they are in fact a "high performance" shop. They shouldnt mind sending back the lousey product.
Well, I have vented a lot. I just am not impressed at all with this hyperjoke. My buddy is also trading in his Lightning for one of the new 03 Mustangs... So I might end up buying his truck and selling mine. Luckly I can salvage the front euro clears and corners to put on the "L", but I will probobly end up selling everything else. I will most defiantly keep you guys updated on the Hypertech situation.
Thanks again for all your help and support!!

whew!
Ok, I went down today and I was able to get my 350 bucks back! Thats a relief. Now I can invest in a Superchip... I just checked my trucks weight... its a fricken boat! It weighs in at 6,000 pounds, and its a shortbed singlecab flareside truck... Isnt this a little heavy?
Well I sure hope the SuperChip is better than the crappy hyperjunk.

That's good news
I think Hypertech knows that they are falling short.
I recommend you call the following folks for that Superchip. Have that computer code ready. It is a number on the passenger side door frame, on the front...towards the firewall.
One of the nice things about Mike is that they send additional instructions that make putting that chip in a heck of alot easier than the instructions that come with suoerchips alone.
Follow the directions like your life depended on it and don't skip any step in your haste to get your chip in.
If Mike isn't in...Anita can assist you also...she ain't just some chick answering the phone...LOL.
