Superchip question.

Superchip question.
I am considering getting a superchip, based on all of the positive feedback I have read in this forum.
I have an F150 shortbed, 2002, 4.6: Automatic.
Will I be sacrificing my Ford warranty by installing the Superchip? and, is this easy enough for me to install myself or do I need it professionally installed?
Thanks,
Bob

i had never installed anything in my life before i recieved my superchip. i instructions are very detailed and even the "mechanically un-inclined" can do it.
as for the warranty...i wouldn't worry about that either.
1) There is the magnuson moss act (somebody help me out here with the spelling) i will let mike explain for you.
2) you can pull it out when you go to the dealership for repairs/tune ups.
if you have more questions these forums are loaded with info. check out the search function at the top. you can search old posts. by the way WELCOME TO THE BOARDS!

LBC150,
I am also ready to buy the Superchip for my 2000 Lariat F150, 5.4L. I called the service manager at the Ford dealership where will be taking it for service, and I asked what impact having the Superchip installed would have on my warrantly. He said the only time it would be a problem is if they could prove the Superchip was responsible for a malfunction. That was all I needed to know. I may still pull the chip when I take the truck in for service.

Hello everyone,
No, the Superchip does not cause any part of your warranty to be void, that is against the law, you are protected by the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. Use the search function of these message boards to see the tremendous volumes that we have written about that specific protection over the years here, and you'll find lots of great detailed info.
Breifly, as another poster mentioned, the only time a warrranty claim can be denied over the use of any aftermarket part is if the automaker can prove the aftermarket part was the sole and direct cause of a failure requiring repair, which is only fair.
Installation is easy enough that virtually anyone can install the Superchip, as here at Performance Products we write extremely thorough documentation that we send out with every Superchip we ship to our customers, in addition to the manufacturers installation instructions. Our documentation is written to take a first time installer thru this smoothly with no surprises.
We advise removing the Superchip prior to service whether you are under warranty or not, just in case any diagnostics or drivetrain troubleshooting needs to be done you always want the ECU in stock trim for that. Very easy to do, it only takes 6 minutes to prepare your vehicle for service.
Anyone who wants to go over this in more detail should feel free to give us a call & well be happy to go over any aspect of this.
