Hi mattdaly,
That's not a stupid question at all. According to an old saying, the only stupid question is one that is never asked!
No, you don't want to substitue octane booster for premium gas, which is I think what you're actually asking. You can't take 87 octane regular and turn it into proper premium gas just by dumping in octane booster. Sure, there are some products that *will* raise octane, but they also generally do not result in proper fuel formulation, you'll generally get pink, red & purple deposits on the spark plugs & O2 sensors, etc., shortening their life span.
Besides all that, it's actually *cheaper* to use premium gas compared to boosting up 87 octane gas with octane boosters.
Remember, at most, the additional fuel cost to use the Superchip on premium gas all the time compared to running on the factory program using 87 octane gas are not more than $100 per each 10,000 miles driven. So it's really the proverbial drop in the bucket for people driving say, 20,000 miles a year.
This assumes a 20 cent per gallon cost delta between 87 & premium gas, and a 50-50 miles of city & highway driving.
Thanks for your post!

thanks mike
Thanks for the information, i knew it was kind of a shot in the dark, but just wanted to ask anyway, my situation is that i work for a company that will pay for my gas in my truck, i think they would raise their nose at me putting in 91or higher octane, let me ask you what kind of price difference i would be looking at if i went with a chip that had the switch so occasionally i could fill the tank out of my pocket and enjoy the benefits of the chip

Hi Matt,
Actually, we have a number of customers whose employers pay for their 87 octane gas, and so have asked that same question, could they just dump in octane booster & bring it up to par, so you're not the only one to ask about that, by a long shot.
We cannot discuss pricing here on the boards, but if you'll give us a quick call or drop us an email, we'll get you that info ASAP. You can also follow the link below in our signature line that will take you to our online ordering system and you can see that info there.
What we tell people in your situation is to just fill up with premium, and *you* pay the difference between regular & premium, you can log that on the receipt. Then you can just enjoy the Superchip & not worry about it. Just a suggestion!
While the Flip Chip would allow you to have better performance on regular, the power gain is small, and you will not get the full real benefit of flipping over to the premium gas program 1 tank at a time, it takes at least 2 full tanks of premium to get the full benefit when you've been running regular.
