Question which chip, or a tuner?

Help!!! I think all the smoke is beginning to affect my brain(we've got some large forest fires, just upwind from my home). I just got my overtime check from a fire assignment, and went down to the local truck shop and ordered a "Jet" performance chip. Then this evening, I got on F150online, and didn't see a single mention of the Jet chip. After a little research, I see that most folks are using the Superchip. Is this mainly due to the influence of the guys from Performance Online? Or is there an advantage. I did ask them to overnight it, but could probably still withdraw my order tommorow with a small (hopefully) restocking charge. I like the idea of the Hypertech PowerTuner III, and being able to re-program however I want (ie. staying with regular gas, change speedo settings when I goto larger tires, etc.).
My truck is an '01 SCrew 5.4, I've got a Gibson SS, K&N FIPK, and BBK 75mm TB. Three main things I'd like to achieve. 1. Increase Power 2. Increase Mileage (yea, right!) and 3. modify shift points. Sometimes I feel like my truck shifts down too soon when going up hills. There's still lots of throttle left and It'll kick down into a lower gear.

Call and hold the order of the Jet chip. Then dial 540-862-9515 and ask to speak to Mike Troyer. He will guide you down the right path my friend.
Oh yea, I moved to Ohio from the Clackamas Oregon area, and
envy you for living where you are.

Clackamas is a nice place. I really like Klamath Falls too, sunnier here. Anyway, thanks for the input. Still scaring me a little. Seems like everyone's a disciple of Mike Troyer and SuperChips. I'd really like to hear from someone that's tried multiple versions. I'll probably still do as you said and save some money.

Hi greenscrew,

A lot of people respect us because we actually do testing that nobody else does, and we know powertrain programming products for the F-150 better than anyone else in the country. We've tested them all and continue to on an ongoing basis, where others simply will sell anything to make a buck.

There aren't any "Mike Troyer disciples," but there *are* those whose trucks run better because of what we have done for them, because of our knowledge, our many years of experience, and our excellent customer service. The Internet is a tough place to do business, and only those are are truly experts and take care of their customers survive long term, as we have since the 80's and will continue to for many more years. Our customer's trucks have won everything from Ford World Challenge to Fun Ford Weekend events to the Silver State Classic to you name it. The majority of our customer's vehicles are actually daily drivers who are looking for better performance on the street, while towing, etc., all the things we typically think of as classic & "normal" uses for the pickup truck.

We like nothing better than to see someone put a Jet, or Hypertech, etc. chip in and then try the Superchip, as everyone who has done that here (and there are plenty of them), as every single person who has done that and reported back here has clearly preferred the Superchip and said so, and has also said the others did virtually nothing in comparison to the Superchip.

Just to give you a brief idea, we are a specialty F-truck performance company, and it is our job to determine which products do the best job for a given purpose and let our customers, potential customers, friends, F-150 Online members, etc. know that so they can make their decisions from a fully informed position, and that is exactly what we do. We do the work that is required to determine which manufacturer's products are worthwhile and which ones to skip with regard to improving the performance of these vehicles, and we only carry the best.

We do this in everything from intake to exhausts to chips to superchargers to you name it and carry only the best products in each category (we don't only do chips) , as we handle just about anything to improve the performance of these trucks.

So it's very simple, if someone else was doing a better job of powertrain programming/tuning, we'd use them. But there isn't, Superchips has far more experience & expertise in this field (as you would expect, since they invented the performance chip), has done more R&D on these F-150 platform vehicles (and many other) than any other tuner in existence, to say nothing of having an engineering staff matched by nobody else in this field, not Jet, not Hypertech, not anyone.

By the way, we also make a Micro Tuner for the F-150 that will allow you to quickly install our product without ever touching the PCM, by uploading our performance tuning via your OBD-II port under the dash.

If you'd like to give us a call sometime and go over the various details & aspects of powertrain programming products for these vehicles, we'll be happy to go over that with you, so you can give it some thought.

If you're going with the Jet chip, that is certainly up to you of course, & we hope you will enjoy it.

Best of luck with your truck,
