Question Didn't lose any of my presets from Superchips install??? How'd dat happen?!?!?

Don't know what happened but here's the rundown...

I recently got my Superchips reburned to work with a 2002 X. I went through all the standard steps as if this was a new install. Got the module in and it turned over just fine I then re-disconnected the battery / switched the headlamp **** to full on (as decribed in the instructs from my original order) to "clear" the memory of the stock config. This was for a full 5 mins. Here's the weird part... I connected the bat cable, turned over fine again and took it for a test drive. All fine. Got those crisp shifted that I've missed for so long! But when I got home and got settled to redo all of my presets, THEY WERE STILL THERE?!?!?

WHAT HAPPENED? I would be very concerned if the X didn't drive it should, but it does??? I need some clarification... I need help...

I will be awaiting for some direction on this one... Thanks to all for the help!

same thing

I have reset my battery several times. I have left the battry disconnected for over an hour and did the light thing, but my presets always stay too....I don't know why. I have to reset the time though.

Thanks!

XLT,

Please allow me to say (being a great fan of black trucks, especially black trucks done right) that you have a great lookin' ride. I appreciate the "black simplicity" of the way you went about it!!!

Thanks for being the 'other' person out there to have gone through the same thing I did. For a time, I thought I did something wrong but couldn't think of what it was since the X drives?!?!? I, too, had to reset my clock... Also, my guages didn't sweep across - it did this when I originally installed it in my '99 X. Could this be from the reburn or is it just something qwerky???

Thanks again for the help!

Hi Expy,

Nothing to worry about, you're fine.

It's the newer trucks that don't lose their radio station presets in just a few minutes, which is why you saw different behavior in your new '02 truck.

On the sweep of the gauges (gauges going to zero and then swinging to peak, then returning to normal), this is something that usually happens when you clear the PCM, but not *always*, on any of the 1997 & newer F-trucks. It's not from the new program in your Superchip.

Have fun!

Never did thank you for EVERYTHING!

Mike,

I never did get back in touch with you to thank you (over the phone) when I got the RMA. I DO want to say a B I G thanks to you, Performance and Anita (would this be Mrs. Troyer???) for getting the module back to me so quickly. Also, thanks for the "other" information that we spoke of via email. Thanks for you time and allowing me to borrow your ear.

I'll talk to later.

p.s. Thanks for the info on this post and the Superchips is, well, SUPER!

Hi EWS,

Yes, Anita is indeed Mrs. Troyer. She & another member of our staff (Crystal) usually answer the phones. I'll pass along your thanks, she loves hearing that with as hard as she works around here.
