Question For Mike!!!!

Mike I'm realitivley new to this site, well not really just haven't been on for awhile. I have a qustion for you concerning Electric Fans for my 97 F150. I realize this is the Chip section, but I figured you would see it faster here. Now to my question, First of all I'm pretty sure you sell them? Second not to sound dumb or anything but where do they go , how many do I need, and How much do they cost? You will see my current mods when I post my signature, is the electric fans something I should even look into with my current mods. I really appreciate your help with this, and I'm considering purchasing them as long as it would be a benifit to me. I respect your knowledge, for as I have read many of your replies to post. I can promise you one thing, if and when I purchase them it will be from you. I'm just trying to find out if it would benifit me, and how much work is involved. I don't wanna get myself in to deep and have to pay someone to install them for me. Thanks again for you time.

Also anyone else who has this mod, I would appreciate your feedback as to how you like them. I have read alot of good things about them on this site.

CALL MIKE

It will be a lot faster!

Sorry for the outburst but I feel bad for Mike. He always says to call him anytime to go over anything and he can't talk about certain stuff on here, plus he has already talked about this stuff.

Search Function turns up the following:

Rolling Rock 1978,

Don't take any offense to my previous post. I have just been noticing that Mike seems to be getting bombarded with repetitive questions and due to certain Vendor rules, he can't talk about certain things.

Anyway...I got the fan kit from Mike and I love it. Throttle response is better ...still don't know my mpg gain(hopefully there is one...I've been a little heavy on the throttle with my 4.10s).

I'll borrow a line from NIKE and say "Just Do It"

Hey XLT Sport

Gonna jump on this thread here and ask you a question:

I will be doing this mod in the future, to my Screw. How difficult was the install? I haven't worked on a modern motor before....mostly working with my dad on his ol '80 F250.

Any warnings, things to watch out for, recommendations?

Thanks.

well, if I had to do the install again, it would be much easier. But due to my inexperience, it was kinda of difficult. Maybe not so difficult but tedious.

For instance, I couldn't get the stock fan off because I was turning it in the wrong direction for 1.5 hours. It came off immediately after turning it the other way. Also, I didn't know that I could take that I could remove/move the tranny cooling tubes so they were a pain when removing the shroud.

The wiring is pretty simple. I don't think you need any knowledge of 'modern' engines. I don't really have experience with any engines except the one I have now, and I really don't know anything about it. If I could do the install, you can do it too, and probably easier

Hi RR1978,

If you'll take a few minutes to read over the link that XLT-Sport posted, that'll give you a lot of the basic info.

The kit includes two 16" electric fans that are mounted directly to the radiator, and the installation is easy, as you don't even have to drain the engine coolant or remove the radiator, etc. You don't have to worry about what you order, it's a complete kit and includes all the components, fans, controllers, wiring, etc.

The only "trick" to it is knowing the proper way to turn the Fan Body Nut to loosen the original fan, and this is because all the factory service manuals we've seen say to turn that nut in the same direction that the fan turns when the engine is running to loosen it. However, on these F-150's, the vast majority you have to turn that nut the *other* way to loosen it, the opposite direction that the fan turns when the engine is running to loosen it. Once you know that, the kit is easy to install, though it will take some time as you're doing a fair amount of work, taking anywhere from 2-4 hours for a first-time installer.

Our installation manual is thorough, providing all the individual steps in sequence, accompanied by pictures as well.

You can use our fan kit with you other mods, and your stock fuel system has enough capacity to siupport you present level of mods and the electric fans as well. You will not need any program chances in your performance chip, either.

For all the details, pricing, etc., please give us a call when you get a chance, our contact info is just below as well.

Hi Beastie,

Yes, we can supply our kit configured for that year too, we'll need to go over the details by phone, as there will be some differences on the pre-1997 F-150's of course, all the basics would be the same, there are juust some dimensional & minor wiring differences.

Yeah Mike, I went out and measured my radiator, and it is only 28" long, do you still use the 16" fans, and just have some of them hanging off, or do you use smaller fans?

Hi Beastie,

We use the fan sizing that is appropriate for the dimensions available. Now in the case of our dual 16" units, you have to have the entire width and almost all of the height of the F-150 radiator to use 2 of those big 16" units, right at 34 inches of width is required, our dual 16's take exactly and precisely the entire width of the 1997 & up F-150 & expedition radiators.

So for smaller radiators, we use smaller fans, whatever is needed, we can go all the way down to dual 7" units if need be.

Give us a call with those exact measurements, and then we can go over with you the exact dimensions of the fans that need to be used.

You'll always have the fan housing in addition to the diameter of the fan itselfs, I.E. two 14" fans cannot fit in exactly 28 inches of width space due to their housings. We know all our total fan dimensions, so what you need to do is to call us with the exact surface dimensions (height & width) of your radiator, and then we'll select the appropriate size fans for the dual fan configuration to correctly fit that radiator.
