A custom tailored chip by a guy who has been specializing in the 3.8/4.2 V6's for the past 8 years and has been tuning for over 15 years! www.fordchip.com

Email him and tell him Talleywacker sent you... he will definately hook you up. You want a F-2 chip or if you want the flip-chip it's the F-4.

Look at my signature and you'll see what decisions I have made.

Go to the computer chips forum a little farther down the list and ask you ? there or just look at some of the post and look for the surpchip distributer and click on the ordering link in his sig. He can give you all kinds of info on chips and answer any ?s you ask him about chips.

The superchip is great... but for the V6's I'd have to vote for the Fordchip.

Although Fordchip (Pete Cambell) will never get the recognition that he deserves on this site. This is unfortunate.

I'm not allowed to answer that here on this board.

Better for me yes, for various reasons...

1. Price... Cheaper than superchip flip-chip

2. Custom... Pete has been tuning the 3.8/4.2's specifically for 8 years now

3. Re-burn cost... ALOT cheaper than others

4. Fordchip's Flip-chip offers On-the-Fly Program swap at Idle.
< >*Superchips require engine to be turned off to swap programs
< >Not good if you pull up to light wanting to race a guy w/ the nitrous, don't wanna have to turn the truck off do you?

5. Power... More power will be had w/ the custom tune chip (Not a given, but will be proven or not come dyno testing)

6. I want to try something else!

Mainly price tho, plus I'm fixing to do some major mods that'll require re-burns and I'll get them next to nothing.

I can only say that some companies have only begun to delve into the adjustability parameters of the Ford EEC-V programs. Pete goes DEEP. His programs have subtle improvements that the mainstream chip programs either haven't figured out yet, or don't change for some other reason like fear of liability. The FordChip is tested and works very, very well for the 4.2L (as Talleywhacker mentioned).

I am not knocking Superchips or Diablo. . .they are good programs and WAY better than the stock program, and for someone looking for a mild upgrade in power and driveability they fit the bill perfectly. But in my own personal opinion, if you want THE chip, then the FordChip is answer- not just in power production (which it makes plenty of) but in driveability as well.

Go to FordChip.com and check out his website, then compare the information you get from him to the other mainstream chip guys and you can tell immediately that this guy is the best friend your 4.2L truck ever had.

---J

Ok... guys... please DO NOT have a heartattack over this,

WrondayJ: I am 100% with you on your above post... I do not believe that I could have explained it any better than what you have. I give you TWO thumbs up man! Keep up the good work,

Your 5spd buddy,

Talleywacker.

Now... on a side note, Pete/Jerry's Fordchip offers the ability to keep our stock MAF or use a 80/90mm SVT Lightning Mass Air to be calibrated to any injector size.

Why pay $300 for a Pro-m 80MM mass air when you can purchase a 90mm SVT Lighting Mass Air direct from ford for $169!!!

Ask ANY other chip maker to do that, wrong! Only other company to come close is JDM, and they have a 3 month turnaround!

What are the advantages/disadvantages of having a 90mm SVT Lighting Mass Air vs. stock for our 4.2's?

John
