Headlights not working
MY headlights only work if I hold the flasher switch back (pull close 2 me) which makes them Hi-beam only. Nothing when I turn them on normally, or engage the hi-beam "constantly on" feature (flasher switch twords the windshield/away from me) THe bulbs are fine, the switch appeared 2 be fine as well. Could somone offer some insight in2 what might be the problem? Thanks in advance!

I am not sure what the problem is but it seems like from the description it would be the switch. Maybe if one of you guys have a multimeter you could get in the steering column and see if the circuit is open or closed when the switch is turned on (pushed forward). I seem to recall others having problems with the switch. I know this isn't much help but good luck!

If your headlights are not working at all, this is a slightly different problem. If the switch works and there are no blown fuses maybe a bad relay? Try checking the owners manual and seeing which relay is used for the headlights. If there is another relay that is the same you might try switching them out to see if thats your problem...

I just fixed this exact problem on my 97 f150 4x4. It was the Multi function switch that is not working. When I took mine out I found there to be tons of corosion inside of it. My lights would not come on when I turned on the light switch but would come on if I wiggled the turn signal switch(multi function switch). Just my .02.

Its actually really easy to take out the Multi function switch. There are 3 screws on the bottom of your steering column, remove those, then remove the bottom half of the plastic cover, then to remove the switch itself there are two torx screws, remove those to screws and then disconect the wireing and you got it out. once its out there are like 5 smaller torx screws holding the two halfs of the switch together, remove those and carefully seperate the two halves, on my switch the corrosion was very noticable, also you will see a white piece of plastic about 2 inches by 1 inch I had to remove this and clean it also because the contacts were completely coroded. hope this helps.
